there are many possible theories being put to the test, but due to funding issues for research and testing, like any other disease, a cure has not been found yet
but many treatment methods, drug therapies have been developed, and are continually being tested as well to improve the living conditions for those suffering from Parkinsons and to keep the tremors/rigidity at a minimum
a 'cure' for anything is rare b/c that would almost mean altering the body's ability to react to dopamine
But drugs to elimininate the effects of parkinsons is totally, and entirely possible, its just a matter of time before something is engineered, be optimistic!!

My father was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease back in the 80's. He is in his 70's now and still has it. It is not a curable disease at this point. There is research going on and it is possible there will be a cure in the future involving stem cells.
I can be controlled somewhat with medication. For some people the treatment is as bad as the disease. My father is lucky. His has progressed vey slowly. His other age-related health problems are a much bigger concern than Parkinsons at this point.

Parkinson's disease is a chronic disorder that requires broad-based management including patient and family education, support group services, general wellness maintenance, exercise, and nutrition. At present, there is no cure for PD, but medications or surgery can provide relief from the symptoms.
Stem cell research could help to cure this disease as well as many other diseases.

I've read in couple of different sources, which I unfortunately did not keep, that many diseases may be helped by Chiropractic care. The nerves that support the body's functions all run through the spinal cord. My father in law has Parkinson's and I have tried to get him to see a Chiropractor for ex-rays. He has major back surgery and refuses, but I have to wonder what nerves could be pinched and obstructing normal function. But as yet there is no know "cure"- only treatment.

I always dislike answering questions like this.. but unfortunately, at this day and age, it cannot be cured completely. I am sure that in some years more to come, there will be found a cure for that dreaded disease. My heart goes out to those people who have contracted it.
I do know of some people who have gone to Mexico and even to Central America for treatment(homeopathic) but it has not worked.

I'm afraid there is no cure for Parkinson's at the moment. There are many promising avenues for research, but potential curative treatments remain some way off.
What can be achieved is control of symptoms both with drugs or with surgery, and some treatments, such as deep brain stimulation, can produce quite dramatic symptom control in patients who have struggled with medication.

Yes it will be possible to find a cure for Parkinson and other Neurological ailments out there because other countries are out there wanting to cure this and other disease such as cancers and they don't care if Bush (or anyone like him )keeps this once great country down because they aren't going to stop looking for cures.I believe they will be in our lifetimes too.

Parkison's is a progressive disease that is currently not curable. Symptoms can however be controlled with medications

UNFORTUNATELY, THERE IS NO COMPLETE CURE FOR PARKINSONS DISEASE. THIS DISEASE IS A SLOW PROGRESSION OF NERVE CELLS DIEING AT THE LOWEST LEVEL ( BASAL GANGLIA). IT ALSO HAPPENS OVER A LONG PERIOD OF TIME, 10-15 YRS IF LEFT UNTREATED OR LONGER IF TREATED WITH MEDICATIONS THAT WILL HELP SLOW THE PROGRESS OF THE DISEASE. THERE ARE ALSO MEDICATIONS TO HELP WITH THE SYMPTOMS OF MUSCULE CRAMPING AND RIGIDITY AND MEDICATIONS FOR THE DEPRESSION OF THESE PATIENTS.
ON A LIGHTER NOTED, THERE ARE TIMES WHEN CERTAN CONDITIONS SUCH AS PTS. GIVEN LARGE DOSES OF TRANQUILIZERS FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME SHOW THE SAME SYMPTOMS. THE CURE, STOP THE TRANQUILIZERS.

There is no known cure for Parkinson's disease. The goal of treatment is to control symptoms.
