Do you want NK or Iran to have nukes just to be "fair"? This isn't a kids soccer league we're talking about.

"They would use it".. same was said about Pakistan.. but Pakistan having nukes balanced powers and kept India from bullying them like Israel bullies Palestinians and now Lebanese.
We like to caricaturize others, but they really are not all that stupid either. Saddam was an evil man, but guess who gave him the weapons to put him in his seat? Who gave him the chemical weapons? The west still holds the receipts of the sale. Nobody liked saddam, definitely not the muslims.. christians had it good under saddam. Saddam's victims were nearly entirely muslims.
I'm against Nukes, I believe the west, US and Israel, are provoking an arms race, a strong desire for others to have nukes too, because nobody likes to be bullied and controlled and belittled. It is also the US and Israel who refuse to sign the non-proliferation treaties, who don't recognize the international criminal tribunal in The Hague (and even said if an american would ever be tried there as a war criminal, that the USA would invade the Netherlands, a political ally, to free the war criminal), Israel has illegal weapons, developed nukes illegally in violation of UN treaties, and uses illegal weapons in Lebanon today, violating all kinds of international laws and treaties, unconditionally backed by the US.
The US has chemical weapons stored, and continues to develop chemical and biological weapons. America likes to create an arms race in the world, as long as their arms industry can sell it to them, and the US is always 1 step ahead..
America also believes, like with their legalized guns in their own country, that a society where EVERYBODY is armed, is safer than a society where NOBODY is armed.. because everybody can threaten everybody.. while you can maintain some balance that way, the tensions do rise, and one slip, one trigger happy person, who wrong move, and the whole world will crumble down in a domino effect.
We must recognize that the reason why some want nukes so badly, is because others already have it.. WE started the arms race and WE are motivating them to have it too. The more we bully them, the more they will become determined to reach for the same means. Control by opression can only work for so long.

Obviously a lot of people dont know how this process works.
Its not only America that says they cant have them. Its the whole world. In order for America to shoot off a nuke the launch procedure would have to go through a chain and everyone would have to approve before we shot it off. N Korea and Iran are communist nations if there leader wants to shoot one off there is no one that is going to tell them no.
America is not saying they cant have them. Every nation within the UN is saying they cant have them. Seriously would you want nations thay have already threatened the world with numerous weapons to have them.

The only nation in AMERICA that has nuclear weapons is the United States, the rest of America (over 75% of the population and 95% of the natios) have signed the non nuclear proliferation agreement and DO NOT have weapons of mass destruction.
It is unfair to categorize a whole continent based on the actions of one nation. There are many more Asian nations that have nuclear weapons for instance China, North Korea, Russia, Ukraine and others but nobody speaks of Asian nuclear weapons, why do the same about America?

Because america has a stable government that doesn't go out and sponsor terrorists and threaten to 'stir up' trouble in different areas of the world.
It's insane to compare NK or Iran with USA. We used nukes 2x 60 years ago to end the largest war the world has ever known.... NK and Iran would use them to destroy cities and terrorize the USA, UK, Germany, France, Indonesia, etc, etc, etc.

Judging from the answers, I suppose very few of you lived through the cold war era. The threat of nuclear annihilation of the whole world was very real. If you look at the current Middle East conflict...what the citizens of Israel and Lebanon have to go through dodging bombs daily is horrific. Now multiply that with the potential of millions of mega tons of nuclear arsenal world wide, you will get the picture. Global warming is the least of your concern.
We cannot do anything about those who have nuclear capability except to come to realization that it is a lose/lose preposition in a nuclear war. We also should discourage anybody else from joining the club, especially those with radical and unpredictable behavior.

Because when you are the big bully on the block you don't want anyone being able too shoot back. The US likes to intimidate and bully anyone who the US has a strategic or economic interest in, these countries want nuclear weapons not for attacking someone but to deter the US from making them the next defenseless Iraq.
