Cats can eat chicken bones if they are RAW. The cooked bones are the ones that splinter. Thigh bones are pretty large, so wing or neck bones are better.

When you wonder whether raw or cooked is good, just think: When have you seen a wild cat or a domestic one living on its own build a little fire in the woods and roast its mouse or bird over an open fire??????????

If that kind of prey is their diet the bones are a necessary element for the calcium they contain.

Chicken bones are dangerous. It's not a myth. Poultry bones tend to shred and splinter easily. Unlike beef or pork bones that usually break off in chucks. Bone splinters get caught easily in the mouth and throat of animals, which is why they're dangerous.
It can happen with any or all bones, but more likely poultry than others.
They aren't poisonous or the such, it's just the 'splintering' fact that makes them unhealthy for animals.

Well, I would think it s not safe, but they are animals that are made for the wild, if they had to hunt for food.
So, I m pretty sure they can handle bones but I m sure wild cats have died from bones too or just gotten close to
death from bones.

no, it's not safe. the cat could choke on a bone and if it has jagged edges, it could rip the throat and cause the cat to die of a lack of food or air, or internal bleeding. but you would know if that happened, so don't worry this time, just don't let your friends feed chicken bones to any more cats.

You really shouldn't feed any bones raw or cooked to cats partically chicken bones as they can splinter and kill or badly injure your cat, fish aren't as bad but to be on the safe side tinned pilchards or tinned mackerel are best because the bones are soft and can be easily digested. I have 8 cats and mine have never had any problems with tinned fish and even my vet recommends them, but NOT CHICKEN BONES. Hope that this helps.

You can give a cat raw chicken bones, DO NOT feed it to him cooked, and under no circumstances give a dog any sort of chicken bones, they are too brittle and can break getting stuck in a dogs throat.

no absolutely not, your friend will be in for a shock in a few days because like raw meat, this type of thing stays in your cats digestive system for ages, he may be ok now but, eventually the bones will find a way to his intestines and damage or even kill the cat.

SOOOOOOOOOOO dangerous for both cats and dogs to eat any type of bone as they splinter and cause internal bleeding or even death, not fair to give animals bones, food is a much better option.

It is dangerous. That cat was just lucky. Bones can get stuck in a cat's throat or rip open the intestines. They can die. Do NOT listen to your friends.
