Sorry for your loss....
you can tell your daughter that although the body s buried, or cremated, whichever the case may be... we do that because the person no longer needs the limits of a human body...
the true person is found in the spirit... not the body... bodies are like suits of clothes that wear out or are no longer needed...
The spirit now free from the human body can move through the universe to many beautiful spiritual places...

I regret the loss of your niece, regardless the circumstances.
Death is merely a change from one status or sphere of existence to another. It is just as important to die as to be born, for the spirit to leave the body as for it to enter that same body. Mortality is a necessary prelude to immortality; it is by passing the test of this life that men obtain eternal life in the world to come. If there had been no creation, there could have been no fall. If there had been no fall, there could have been no birth into mortality.
If there were no mortality, there would be no death. And without death there would be no resurrection, and hence no immortality or eternal life. Thus, to do away with death would frustrate the whole plan of redemption.
When the time of departure comes, the righteous go in peace. But with the wicked it is not so, for “the sting of death is sin.” (1 Cor. 15:56)
Death will cease, as far as this earth is concerned, when every person and created thing has been raised in immortality and when the earth itself has become an immortal sphere.
It is interesting to note that in 1 Corinthians 15: 40, 41, the Bible speaks of the three degrees of glory (heaven) that is also Mormon doctrine. There is a place for all of us after the resurrection and the reunion of body and spirit.
I’m shooting for the celestial glory.

That's so sad. I had a musician friend commit suicide about 9 years ago, and a family friend lost his son to suicide 3 years ago. You know, my father had a near-death experience last year after suffering a stroke, and although I cannot share all the details of what happened, he did see the spirit of my great-aunt, who died while he was still in a coma. He said she looked younger, like in the prime of life, and she was happy. As Mormons we believe that we all have a spirit, which looks just like us but is made of a more refined material, with our personality and talents. I believe suicide is a sin, but God is the one who judges, not us, and He takes many more things into consideration. As a Mormon I believe that there is a place called the spirit world, and everyone keeps learning and growing much as they do here, only they aren't subject to the depressing influence of Satan and his unseen followers. I believe that they live in houses or buildings similar to the best of what we have here, and they get to keep learning about the purpose of life. I feel like I have had an experience with the spirit of my friend who committed suicide as well, and that he will be resurrected after the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. That means that he and everyone else who has died will receive their body again, to be combined with their spirit, only this time those who are resurrected will never be subject to death or disease or severe depression caused by Satan magnifying chemical or emotional weaknesses. This is a free gift to all who have ever been born on the earth, and it is through the grace of Jesus Christ, who accomplished the Atonement for all mankind. You might want to let your daughter watch the end of Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" to get an idea of how glorious the resurrection will be (it's not exact, but I think the concept of light and power are used very well.) Thanks for asking this question. From a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Good question was about suicide. Yes, according to Hebrews 11:32 - Samson who is one of the heroes of the faith and committed suicide was with the lord.
I'm not a Catholic, but if you want to know where the Catholic Church stands, read point 2383 in the Catechism and you will see that God has a special place, a remedy for those he loves and who commit suicide.
I have known people who have committed suicide - people that I respected and even Christians and certainly God has the answer for all of our depressions and problems.
He is such a tender, loving savior. Listen to Jesus in John 14:1, “Let not your heart be troubled”, then down to verse 27, Jesus said, “peace, I leave with you. My peace I give unto you - not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled neither let it be afraid.". You know how you can have peace? Psalm 119:165. “They that love thy word have peace.” It is because we are not in the Book daily. This is our strength and then prayer – Philippians 4:6-7, “Be anxious about nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication let your requests be known unto God and the peace of God which passes all understanding shall keep your heart and mind.” You don't have to carry these burdens. Listen again to Jesus in Matthew 11:28, “Come unto me all you that labor and are heavy laden with the burdens of life. When you come I will give you rest.” Give the Lord a chance, today. Get into the book and on your knees in prayer.
Several people ask this. Where do we go after feath.
You know there are many people who believe that when people die, they go into the ground and they sleep there till the coming of the Lord. Is that true or isn’t that true, Soul Sleep…?
No, it’s not true at all and it’s a very erroneous doctrine.
James 2:26 says, “As the body without the spirit dead…” Where does that spirit go? 2 Corinthians 5:8 says, “Absent from the body… present with the Lord”. That’s why Paul said, “To die is gain”. Now, when the Lord returns in I Thessalonians 4:16-18, he brings the dead with him to come after the dead, for the dead in Christ rise first. What part does he bring with him? – The spirit that left the body, that’s been there to join the body. There is no soul-sleep in this book.
A lot of people use Hebrews chapter 12, verses 1 & 2, where there is a great cloud of witnesses, and they think that means that they are sitting in the heavenlies watching us and every move we make. But that is not so. The great cloud of witnesses are the great heroes of the faith of chapter 11. And because of the way they lived, we are to follow their example, but they can not look down from heaven and see what is going on in this earth, if they could it would make heaven hell, because they’d see so much heartache, even among their children and grandchildren, etc.
Now, the Bible teaches that there will come a time when we are like Christ. In Acts 15:18 it says, “known unto God are all His works...” And Christ is the 2nd member of the Trinity, and now in His heavenly body, He knows everything about everything, because He is God. That means He is Omniscient, knowing all things about all things. When we are raptured, then we get bodies and minds like His. That’s why David said in Psalms 17:15, “I shall be satisfied when I awaken with your likeness.” And when we see Jesus we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is, I John 3:2. So there’s an hour coming when we get these new bodies and new minds, and then we will be all knowing. And not until then. So nobody in the heavenlies now can see what’s going on.
In Luke 15, whenever anyone is converted upon the earth, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over 1 sinner that repents, because the message is relayed to the angels, and the angels relay it throughout the heavenlies. So that if a mother’s son finds Christ, and one for whom she’s prayed for years, there is joy because the message has been related. It’s not because she knows everything, she won’t until she gets that body, the new glorified body of the resurrection. So, I hope that answers the question, because it is exactly what the Word of God teaches. And oh, Jesus is coming soon, and we’ll have that great mind in the near future.
Have a good week.

A few years ago I lost a child from sudden infant death syndrom.
I was confused also but as we manage with our grief we understand more about life.
I have 2 boys they are teenagers now but at the time they were 8 and 6 years old.
I got the questions as well.
I first stated that it was gods will and he needed an angel by his side.
Second was explaining about death and where do people go when they die.
I explained to them that they go to a much happier place and it was like a party with lots of people and of cause god" love.
I then explained to them that my son would always be looking at them from above. I told them that they had to search for the brightest star and that would be their brother smiling at them.
This worked as they are now 14 and 16 years old, and they often go outside at night to look for their brothers star and to chat to him and tell him whats going on in their lives.
I think it helped them.
Life after death for the people living is the hardest of all.
She is grieving. Let her go through the process.
She will be angry at her cousin, she will be happy for her and she will miss her most of all.
Get her to talk about her feelings. Tell her it will never be ok if she doesnt show her feelings.
Sorry to hear about your loss.
Be strong and everything thing will be ok in the end.
Everything happens for a reason, you and your daughter will only grow from what has happened.
Keeping you in my prayers.

My heart and prayers go out to you, your daughter, and your family. I know how hard both suicide and death can be on a person. Here's the answer to your question: whether you believe that the Bible is God's word or not, the truth is that God eagerly wants us to be with Him in heaven. But if we don't first decide to love Him passionately (with love comes obedience), then He can't let us in because He can't offer His house to those who won't obey the rules of His house. The only other place for those who refuse to love Him and His perfection is Hell. Hell was created to destroy sin so that God's creation will no longer be corrupted with death and evil. But let it be known that God HATES the idea of His creation going to Hell...but we've left Him no choice. To let sin into a perfect place like Heaven would be an even bigger disaster.
I hope this helps.

Here's a thought... Tell her the truth.
Some people don't handle life's difficulties well or in the same way that we would.
Death is part of the cycle of life. Living things are born, live and die. What may be of consequence is that in death the body indirectly starts life again by nourishing the plants. This would be an excellent opportunity to talk about life in general.
My only hope is you don't mysticism of the event.

Assalam alaikum...peace be on u and ur family...
well, the answer depends largely on how old ur daughter is and neice was...
Children are born in a state of fitrah, innocence, until they mature enough to be held responsible for their choice. Of faith, and everything else... so if ppl. are not accountable for their actions, where do they go after life? - Heaven Ofcourse...
“Whosoever performs good deeds whether male or female and is a believer, we shall surely make him live a good life and we will certainly reward them for the best of what they did.” (Quran 16:97)

WHAT JESUS SAID ABOUT DEATH
Jesus Christ spoke about the condition of the dead. He did so with regard to Lazarus, a man whom he knew well and who had died. Jesus told his disciples: “Lazarus our friend has gone to rest.” The disciples thought that Jesus meant that Lazarus was resting in sleep, recovering from an illness. They were wrong. Jesus explained: “Lazarus has died.” (John 11:11-14) Notice that Jesus compared death to rest and sleep. Lazarus was neither in heaven nor in a burning hell. He was not meeting angels or ancestors. Lazarus was not being reborn as another human. He was at rest in death, as though in a deep sleep without dreams. Other scriptures also compare death to sleep. For example, when the disciple Stephen was stoned to death, the Bible says that he “fell asleep.” (Acts 7:60) Similarly, the apostle Paul wrote about some in his day who had “fallen asleep” in death.—1 Corinthians 15:6.
The Bible teaches that the dead “are conscious of nothing at all.” They are not alive and have no conscious existence anywhere. The account of Lazarus confirms this. Upon returning to life, did Lazarus thrill people with descriptions of heaven? Or did he terrify them with horrible tales about a burning hell? No. The Bible contains no such words from Lazarus. During the four days that he was dead, he had been “conscious of nothing at all.” (Ecclesiastes 9:5) Lazarus had simply been sleeping in death.—John 11:11.
The account of Lazarus also teaches us that the resurrection is a reality, not a mere myth. Jesus raised Lazarus in front of a crowd of eyewitnesses. Even the religious leaders, who hated Jesus, did not deny this miracle.
Think about this too: If Lazarus had been in heaven for those four days, would he not have said something about it?— And if he had been in heaven, would Jesus have made him come back to earth from that wonderful place?— Of course not!
Yet, many people say that we have a soul, and they say that the soul lives on after the body dies. They say that Lazarus’ soul was alive somewhere. But the Bible does not say that. It says that God made the first man Adam “a living soul.” Gen. 2:7, Adam was a soul. The Bible also says that when Adam sinned, he died. He became a “dead soul,” and he returned to the dust from which he had been made. The Bible also says that all Adam’s offspring inherited sin and death too.
The Scriptural teaching of the resurrection, however, is not compatible with the doctrine of the immortality of the soul. If an immortal soul survived death, no one would need to be resurrected, or brought back to life. Indeed, Martha expressed no thought about an immortal soul that was living on elsewhere after death. She did not believe that Lazarus had already gone to some spirit realm to continue his existence. On the contrary, she showed her faith in God’s purpose to reverse the effects of death. She said: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.” (John 11:23, 24) Likewise, Lazarus himself related no experiences of some afterlife. There was nothing to report.
Clearly, according to the Bible, the soul dies and the remedy for death is the resurrection. You enjoy the best sleep ever, until Jesus resurrects you, sometime in the future.
