My cat does the following.
* Heals
* Sits
* Sits up
* Plays fetch (sometimes even initiating the game by bringing
me his fetch toy)
* He waits each day at the door when I arrive home
* Walks on a leash
* Rides in a car very well (like a dog)
I could go on... if you work with an animal, cat or dog, one would be amazed. The key here is working with them and "patience"

Because they have a way at looking at humans that makes us feel dumb.
Because they have the best lives - sleep 80% eat 10% play 5% pats 5%
Because dogs have masters - cats have staff.
Dogs come when you call - cat's take a message and get back to you - maybe.
Because they have ancestral memories of being worshiped by the Ancient Egyptians.
Because they are smart.
All of the above.

Because they are. You can take a cat miles away from his home and he will find his way back. A dog is just lost. Cat's think and strategize when trying to get to something they can't have. Cats can learn to open doors. And cats, like dogs can warn their owners when there is a dangerous situation in the house, like a fire or someone sick or hurt in another room.

My cat, Tiger, is very smart. I can tell him Tiger talk to momma, and he will meow till I say something to him. I ask him does Tiger love momma, and he will meow at me. When I tell him to got outside he goes to the door so I can let him out. I can tell him Tiger go to bed, and he'll go get in bed. He is that way because I raised him from a baby. The rest of my cats are smart, but not like he is.

i dont, even thought i have a cat. They're cute and all, and they are a bit smart, but not so smart that you have to brag and talk about it. I mean, i talk about when my cat got stuck in a tree or when she brought 3 mice home at once, or when she killed a bat, but not about how -smart- she is!

Not so much smart ...but independent.
Anyway, no one really owns a cat, they own you.

I have a cat, it isn't very smart, and it doesn't problem solve.
Unless meowing constantly and complaining are problem solving. He's very grouchy.

I've never heard that - I always thought cats were kind of stupid, or at least self-centered.
