I have actually looked at Tom's website, he claims that we as christians have no real proof outside the Bible and our faith that Christ ever existed. Problem with his theory is that unless he was actually alive(which we all know he wasn't) during Jesus time on earth he can't prove he didn't exist. As to the book theory of proof or lack of proof of existence then lets take it further, was there a George Washington, anybody still around that personally knew him or fought by his side in the revolution, who's been hanging out with Abe Lincoln lately, how do you know he was a real person is it from those history books we had shoved down our throats in school. What about ole Ben Franklin, did he really fly that kite or is that just a story. Bottom line, we believe in things that happened in the past because of faith. Faith that the writers of those books we read were honest and correct. Jesus is real and there is no way to prove he isn't.

weemaryanne is all you can do call someone an idiot? Most of your answers to questions are "you are an idiot."

You are all missing the point, there are ways to prove that Jesus existed, volumes of proof outside the Bible accounts. So I will start a web site and then you can read it or not.

Thank you IK, my point exactly. Case Closed.

Another point well made Terri, the whole point of my question was that yes there are ways to prove that Jesus was very real. I have studied many aspect of this subject including the scientific ones. I agree with you science has proven that he was very real and modern science is a great thing.

At first glance, I thought your question was wildly hilarious, and I'm still laughing on that point! :)
But, the problem is, as Christians, yes, we live by faith, and Jesus said, "blessed are those that have not seen and yet believe" but there is evidence. Tons of it.
Start by reading A Case For Christ, A Case For Faith, and A Case For a Creator, all by Lee Strobel. Probably the best books on modern apologetics I've read. Then, go the library and look up some of the works he references. One scientist, quoted in his book A Case For a Creator said "this is the first time in 2000 years that science is on the side of the Christian."
We don't need to just stand and say "I believe" or "You can't prove it didn't happen that way" or any other of the myriad of "lame" (in non believer's words) excuses. You can actually use science to back up what you've always believed. But you have to research. God created science and it is now pointing to Him. Cool, huh?
There's tons of proof out there, and just because atheists jump up and down and say it isn't doesn't mean all that proof disappears. Use it. It is so awesome to be able to say "Yes, I believe God created the heavens and the earth, and here's research from the last twenty years from the fields of cosmology, astronomy physics, embryology, anthropology, and all those other "ologies" to back it up."
Most atheists and evolutionists are still clinging, desperately, in my opinion, to research that has been outdated and proven wrong in the last fifty years. Modern science rocks. Outdated science fad passed off as unfallible is a waste of time.

Glad to hear we're on the same page. Sometimes it gets lonely around here! :)
Hang in there girl, you're doing good!

Christians will always question the existence of Jesus.

Trying to remove doubt is the nature of mankind.

Asking whether He existed is like asking whether we have a heart.

Remember back in the school days when they brought in frogs for the students to dissect. I do. I remember the teacher showing us how the heart was still beating.

The point I'm making is that many of us have a pea sized heart if they were to dissect us, and a brain to match.

They keep uncovering more evidence to show a man walked the earth and was a good lecturer and the people followed up until a point, and then everyone turned against Him.

Whether that man was Jesus or not, you miss the point entirely by doubting.

We, the result of misplaced generations are supposed to follow in His good deeds, and when we do, we become similar in image.

Our hearts will grow bigger and bigger all the time when we invoke the words of the Master.

Christians at odds(like I see with this question), is not what the man from Galillee intended.

And so I'll pick a bone with you other Christians:

When people of the catholic faith become close to the Master, they are given tiltes, and some reach all the way up to sainthood.

I'm reminded of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who adored Jesus every single day of her life, and showed it by doing what none of us can do, including this sinner writing now.

When more of us mimick Jesus the world becomes a better place.

To sum it all up, We shouldn't question His existence, we should be loyal followers because everything He ever said rings true.

The rest of what we are being fed in these times is false.

Thankyou.

You have to prove that certain ideas are true, rather than for people to disprove that they aren't. Can you prove the giant spaghetti monster doesn't exist? People believe that george washington existed because 1) it's believable that there was a man called george washington who was a well respected general who led the americans in the war of independance. If there were people claiming there was a man called Spongebob who led them it is obvious they're lying, because such a thing is ridiculous, 2) there are hundreds and hundreds of accounts he existed from both his enemies and his friends 3) there is a chain of people you can go through in order to find someone who did know him, someone's grandfather's grandfather knew him - nobody can do that for Jesus.

Abraham Lincoln and George Washington did not claim to have been had a virgin birth, walk on water, turn water into wine, cast out demons, heal the sick, raise the dead, die for sins, go to hell to take the keys of life & death from the devil, rise again, ascend to heaven and then never be seen again.

Therefore, most things written about those Presidents have far more credibility than a bunch of myths, fables, fairy tales and fantasies.

But, believe what you want. Oh! Did you know that Earth is still flat?

You're getting into deep areas of philosophy insofar as "what is belief." We couldn't possible discuss it to a conclusion on YA.

But at least Tom's demanding that Christians' "prove" the existence of Jesus Christ is his belief based on faulty science.

The scientific method

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_method

is based one ones ability to prove something or something CAN'T be done or doesn't exist. A simple example would be gravity...something no scientist fully understands. It is accepted as a scientific fact because scientists CAN'T prove it doesn't exist...not because they CAN prove it DOES exist.

It's the same thing with Jesus, God, or any person throughout history. Science cannot prove that Jesus didn't exist and there's ample evidence...physical, literary, and traditional...that he did exist. Therefore, scientifically speaking, until Tom can prove with accepted scientific evidence that Jesus never was present...scientifically, He did exist.

Good luck to Him!

Actually, "Mythbusters" pretty much proved that if Ben Franklin had "flown the kite" it would have killed him...

But that's not the question...

No, you should not start a "justsaynototom" website, and not because I would agree with him because I don't. You shouldn't do that because it puts down another human being and we as Christians have enough failings ourselves--we don't need to add new ones.

Please don't.

You've got the right idea, but you're going about it the wrong way. There are a few historical, secular sources that mention Jesus. Find 'em!

Sure, I've talked to Tom personally, but I havent' seen his website. I think we need a website. We need to encourage more people to come to Christ, since only 4% of my generation are going to be Christians. It's scary to me, and I think this website would help.....God Bless.
