Sometime the free credit report you order includes a free trial for a credit monitoring membership. If you do not cancel the membership within the trial period they will charge you’re for the membership
If you want your free yearly credit report with no credit card then go to www.annualcreditreport.com
If you want a credit report and monitoring service than you will need to enter your credit card on one of many sites offering this service.

This is the only officially FREE site on the web. You may not be able to click the link but will need to type the address in to your browser.
This is the site that was set up in response to the government requirements a couple of years ago that made it law that all three credit reporting agencies must make a completely free report available to you once per year.
I use the site to access one report about every four months - on from TransUnion at the start of the year, Experian a few months later, and then Equifax a few months after that. It thus allows me to keep close tabs on my credit throughougt the year for free.
BEWARE: Some other websites, such as www.freecreditreport.com require you to sign up (and pay for!) other services to qualify for your free report. The free report is just a scam to garner more business.

In some states if anyone has recently turned you down, you can write the credit agency and get a free report...you can also challenge any incorrect entries.
