After Vietnam, a lot of draft dodgers, drug addicts, burned out hippies, folks who were afraid to go, and losers in general started claiming military service to either explain away their mediocre lives or impress their buddies.

With the current all-volunteer military deploying and redeploying to Iraq and Afghanistan, and making news, how long will it be until we see the wannabees lying about being SEALS, snipers, Marines, and having "confirmed kills"?

Is it already happening? Just wondering.

HAHA...Yeah thats already happening.

I actually have fun with it though. I was at this one bar and I noticed a guy wearing an Airborne shirt. So I started a conversation with him and he asked if I was in the military and just cause I thought he was fake told him no. So I was playing stupid and asking him all these questions that anyone that has been to airborne school would know. Well he was going on and on and one of the guys I was with ratted me out by saying "hey are yall comparing war stories". The guy in the Airborne shirt just looked at me and thats when I told him that I was an MP in the Army and had been through Airborne school.

All his friends just started busting out laughing at him. Come to find out he wasnt in the military he was supposed to be leaving in like a month to go to boot camp...

Already happening....I used to work with a guy who claimed front line experience in the first gulf war, and he was too young to have signed up.
