I have had 2 children, 6 years apart. After the birth of my first, I basically tried everything. I had my first at 19 and was not in any hurry for a second. In the hospital, i had them do the depo-provera shot. This shot you get every 3 months and it is pretty much 100 % effective. The good part, I never got a period. The bad, well it out weighed the good. I lost my sex drive, my hair fell out in clumps, i gained close to 90 poiunds over next 3 months. I was depressed. It was awful. I then tried the regular pill. Well I kept forgetting to take it every night, and that also made me gain weight. I then tried the othro-evra patch. You put a new patch on your body for one week at a time and the 4th week, no patch and you get a period. It was okay, no weight gain, depression, hair loss etc.. The only thing I didn't like was the way that the edges of the patch would roll and collect lint like a bandaid left on for more than a day. I never got preganant though. As soon as I got off of it I was preganant within 3 months. After the birth of my second, I went on the Seasonale pill. I am currently on it and love it. You take one pill every day for 3 months straight. After 3 months, you get a period. One period for every season. I love it. I do however have a little spotting the week before I am suppose to get my period. I also know that if you don't take the pill pretty much the same time every day, that you are more likely to have spotting throughout the months. I also find it easier to remember to take a pill everyday. When you have 2 kids, taking a pill to keep from having another is not something you forget. As for the other types of birth control, such as the IUD, or norplant, or even diaphram. I was never comfortable having a foreign object in my body. I hope this helps. The best form of birth control is to abstain. :)

After a condition i had during my first pregnancy i was unable to go back onto the pill, so i opted for the mirena coil, which after an initial 8 wk check it protects you for up to five years, Although you must also have it checked after the first year also and a bonus is if you decide to have it taken out early or even after the five years you are again fertile straight away. Another bonus is that you don't have periods after the coil has settled down.

"Not just now dear, the baby needs fed" or, if that didn't work, a condom. GP want to put me back on the pill but as I had had a lot of trouble conceiving the first time, i refused. My argument was that a second baby slightly sooner than intended was better than not managing to have a second child.

Originally I went on the pill injection but found I was having trouble shifting my baby weight so now have a coil fitted. It hurt for the first couple of days but is fine now and means you don't even really have to think about contraception.Plus you cant feel it inside you and its highly unlikely your partner will either.

I was on the pill. Cant say I kept up with it. Maybe I didnt take it seriously, but I came out pregnet 10 mts later. See whats the safest. I knew a lady who developed Lupus with the shot. (forgot the name). If not, why not just use condoms and rythem.

Don't go with the Depo shot it can cause excessive bleeding...something they don't tell you. After my second pregnancy I got an IUD. It has been great. Start off with the pill after delivery, that way you have six weeks to your exam to think about another form of birth control.

The nuva ring. I got pregnant on it after being on it for 2 weeks. After having my second baby I got an IUD. I also got pregnant on that but it ended in miscarriage. The IUD is great. It's very rare for a woman to get pregnant on it. I had been on it for 15 months when I got pregnant and miscarried. Good luck.

I went with Micronor First thats the Mini pill cos i was breast feeding. after that i got the Implanon Implant put into my arm, it stays there for three years then you have it removed, i think they do them over 5 years now, its brill cos you dont have to worry bout takin the pill aswell as worryin bout bringing up a baby. also it can stop your periods which is a god send.
