I live in Australia, and a few weeks back I was catching the train home from heart of the city. Whilst at the station, a guy starts muttering in some middle eastern tongue, nothing too unusual or upsetting. He then shouts out to the entire platform "death to America... Muhammed lives for ever... Americans will all die in a fiery death".etc. You get the picture.

If you were in my position what would you have done?

BTW their was a huge crowd, mainly chinese, surrounded by a few caucasians, though, as the statement didn't apply to any of the crowd, they ignored it.

I would say nothing. I would run away and call the FBI.

First ask that Allah forgive him, perhaps he has lost a part of his family or friends due to an American or an Israeli {US Supply ed} action, then his anger is understandable. If it is just hatred for the Americans and is enough cause to see them "Die a fiery death". then this is cause to burn the entire earth. Why do the Muslim extremists hate only America, why not any other country that does not comply with this man's spiritual leaders. The Koran does not teach unwarranted hatred, it must be his spiritual leader.that does. These leaders are the ones that promise Martyrdom to the young, emotional, and naive and talk them into becoming suicide bombers and in other ways die needlessly. Why not Educate them to be negotiators and peace seekers and in that way spread their religion and promise paradise to those that bring peace and hope to others.

Funny how much attention a Muslim extremest gets when there are so many rednecks ready to shoot anything and everyone in their sites. This individual you spoke of voiced an opinion and so far everyone who has responded talks of murder. Maybe he was a regular guy of a different religion who sees all the innocent people getting murdered everyday by God loving people, and he dared to speak out. I can assume he did nothing but shout as that is all the information given. Why are our extremists considered good people? Even if you believe in the official explanation of 9-11, the score sheet has our side ahead by a few hundred thousand killed.

If he was saying that in Australia with Chinese people walking around, I'd say either he was a total coward to say it aalllllllll the way down under instead of here in the States, or, he could be some loon, since you said he was speaking, but didn't imply that he was speaking to anyone. Was he talking to himself?

Just to be on the safe side, I agree with Mario E, call the FBI.

As for what I'd personally say to him, absolutely nothing. He might ask what religion I am, and being Baha'i (Muslims, even tame ones, believe Baha'is to be apostates), he might kill me right there, if he really is that much of an extremist. So I'd keep my happy mouth shut.

Well I would get off that train as soon as possible! I would be afraid of a suicide bomb or something. For someone to be screaming those things I would be deeply disturbed. I would probably tell someone I know but I don't think there would be anything I could do about it. I think Muslim extremists give Islam a bad name.

regrettably the west has not have been given clean palms in all of this. it quite is not basically naive remote places coverage, it quite is money / oil grabbing coverage. arms sellers, the bankers all desire to dip a finger into the pie. upload to that the desire to make certain Armageddon by using some American government lobbyists upload to this sorry blend. in spite of the shown fact that it quite is not all secular. The anger has been whipped up and grew to become into religious fervour by using many Imams. yet once you like my 2 penneth i might say, interior the tip it quite is all right down to the main explosively risky chemical interior the international....testosterone.

Best not to get into trouble with one of those. However, maybe I would talk to the person sitting next to me in a loud voice about how anybody who speaks of violence or hatred is not a true Muslim.

Probably the same thing that I'd do if I came across any muslim. All muslims are extremists. It's just that most are quiet about it and deny it.
Eventually they will eliminate us all. If you don't believe me, look at what they are doing in Africa today, little by little.

I would have asked him to explain what he was talking about, and I would have listened. After I understood what he was saying, I would have talked to him about the issues he brought up. I would have asked him more questions if I needed clarification.

He would have left knowing that not all Americans fit into his idea of them.

being an american myself, and also b/c my husband serves in the u.s military i would be really upset. i'd probably tell him to crawl in a hole and die or ask him to go blow himself up or seek mental help or go back home to his own country or something!! but i am not sure i could quietly listen to him defame and insult my country. i don't know......i really don't know what i'd do.

Fanatics are everywhere and thanks to President Reagan the mentally ill are everywhere also. If he is yelling something like that in Atlanta I would think he is mentally ill and would just think how awful it is that he has no place to go for help anymore.
