PLEASE ANSWER! thank you! : []

I will tell you the truth. At our school it is all done by computer. Our enrollment is around 800. However, in smaller schools if scheduling is done by hand and done in some random manner it is not unheard of for some "tweaking" to be done to schedules to keep troublesome students apart. I am not saying that is the case in your school. By the way it is rarely up to the teacher as to which students go in which classes. Counselors and administrators are the ones who make those decisions. I speak from experience in that regard.

It depends on where you live and how the school decides to do it. I'm a teacher in an elementary school in Texas. I know that at our level, we generally split the kids based on how well we know they will do with which next year teacher, which kids (behaviorally) they do not need to be with, and we make sure there is a wide range of academic levels in each class. We as teachers fill out cards on each student with tons of info to help out the next year teacher. Also, our principal allows some parent requests depending if it is in the best interest of the child.
I know at middle and high schools in the district, it is mainly done by computer, but some parent and student requests are taken into consideration. Also, I remember back when I was in high school there was a 2 week period at the beginning of each term that you could request schedule changes from the counselors to get a specific teacher.
Anyway hope that helps and good luck :)

It's fairly random based on your age and grade. Schools want diversity in each class, so they will make sure it has roughly the same number of boys and girls, is ethnically diverse, etc. If you have any learning disabilities or are considered a "gifted" student, you will then be further sorted.

answers vary from school to school
most of the time, they write all the names in alphabetical order, and assign verious classes in succession (e.g. for clases A and B, they write A, then B, then A and so on...).
If uve got a teacher that really hates u, he/she might tweak this a bit for the fun of torturing u.
Good luck!

as has been said it differs from school to school. my mom is a teacher and at her school they usually separate by how well u did on ur test, grades, etc... basically: smart class, dumb class...last yr at her school they did alphabetically and the yr before completely random...hope this helps and good luck

Just inform her the reality. Telling her extra lies will best make matters worse, such as you stated, your pal would have a further tale and also you each would get into larger crisis.
