does anyone else working in food service think that a lot of food allergies are psycho schematic ?

I worked in restaurants too, for over 25 years.. I have seen peoples tongues swell up and start to choke over an ingredient they didn't even know they were allergic to. so no, it's not in their head. and never take it lightly if someone says they are allergic!! I do suspect that sometimes someone will claim an allergy if they really hate a particular ingredient, like onions. but that's rare.

No because if I eat shellfish I break out in hives....love them but highly allergic to them
