If it unilateral (one-sided), do a few simple things. Feel the lymph nodes in the arm pit to see if there is enlargement or swelling. Inspect the skin (look for what is called orange-peel skin)..dimpled skin, then a self exam of the breast. If any of these things are true, or suspicious, then an exam by a physician is needed. However, there can be other causes, a cyst can cause discomfort and is easily corrected, but other things can cause discomfort...a different type of bra, physical activity, or even a new chair can cause muscular pain. Two types of pain can arise in the breast, a breast tissue pain, or from the underlying muscles. I strongly suggest a mammogram and don't be led to useless remedies and fruitless suggestions that may endanger her very life.

If it were heart related it would most likely be located between her breasts. Pain above her breast may be a muscle strain that she continually gets from something she is always doing...gas...etc. If she doesn't feel right, is worried, or has tingling/numbness in her left arm she should see her Dr.

This is why I asked for a mammogram, I had the same problem. It may be nothing, but don't leave anything to chance. It can't hurt. See your doctor please.
