My friends/neighbors are animal behaviorists. When I lost my cat they suggested the following (and it worked!!) They said dogs tend to travel in concentric circles, cats more in a straight line. Take something that smells strongly of you, like a dirty sock or smelly sneaker, tie to string or rope, and go out walking, let the item drag on the ground. You can tie the item to a branch near your home.(probably out of sight of the neighbors otherwise they'll think you are really batty!) dogs have amazing sense of smell and will catch a whiff of where he needs to return to. Also, if there is water near your home (stream, pond, brook, etc,) make sure you go from your home to that place, dragging the scented item. dogs tend to follow water too. or at least go for a drink!! You know, you really shouldn't worry so much about the Hillbillies. Its those Mountain Williams
that you should watch out for. And it's not your dog you should be worried about.
