My shepard had painful hip displasia and chewed holes in her hips the size of quarters, and quite deep. I was told explicitly by vet NOT to use hydrogen peroxide. It eats the cells, and the flesh doing much more harm than good. I was told to use Betadine, the red iodine solution, diluted. (get it in human first aid asile). I dilute to the color of tea, using a dropper, a clean recycled jar, adding water and the betadine It's about 10 parts water to 1 part bentidine. apply with cotton ball. use triple antibiotic. but they shouldn't lick that ointment. I still haven't figured out how to stop that part!

Is Peroxide Good For Cuts

If the wound is minor and the bleeding is stopped, you can clean the wound with the hydrogen peroxide. Even if the dog ingested huge quantities of the peroxide, he would just throw it up. The Neosporin is safe to use too.

Bites can become infected easily, so watch for swelling around the area. If you see any swelling, your dog will need to see a vet.

Go ahead It is non toxic as long as the dog does not drink a whole bottle (even then it does no real harm). Be sure the dog does not lick the wound for a while (minute or 2) else the peroxide can not do it's work.

Neosporin is excellent, but the peroxide must be diluted about 1/2 with water - it'll damage a dog's tissues if used full strength.

Peroxide is used to make a dog throw up. See weblink

Small amounts will not, but are not good to use as it kills good as well as bad tissue.
Neosporin is OK to use, but make sure that the bit is covered so that he will not lick it off. Excessive licking on a wound will make matters worse.

I have a dog that had a cut on her back. We used peroxide and she licked it up, all that happened was it foamed in her stomach so she purged it by vomitting it out. After that she was fine, just a little thirsty. This happened months ago and the cut is healed and she has had no stomach/digestive problems.

i have used neosporin, but not the peroxide. if you do use the peroxide, dilute it 50/50 with water, that is what i had to do on myself after surgery and it didn't sting at all. and i don't think it will be harmful in that form to the dog--but, my dog hardly left the neosporin on for one minute!
