In MS Word, I reopened a document. Less lines are fitting on a page than I saw the last time I opened the document, but the margins are shown to be the same, the paper-size is also correctly the same, I touched nothing. What happened? What to do?

go to the page... there are two horizontal bars, up and down, don't touch them.... and two vertical bars.... right and left... move your cursor on them (you'll get a yellow box "top margin" move it up. Then down these bars move the courser you'll get "bottom margin" move it down.
If you want the page to fit more lines, move the margins on the horizontal bars so you widen the page.
Also, maybe the paragraph format settings have changed. Go to format-> paragraph-> line spacing ->single.

Can you tell us the exact figures you used for 1) line spacing 2) font size 3) page size 4) margin size? If possible also give us the name of the font used?

It might be that there is something in the footer or header of the document/ default template. Does this happen on a blank document, on a particular document or on all documents

Have you ever noticed how Windows tries to help you do things, but it is not what you want it to do?

For example, the other day I was typing a report. It moved the last three lines on the first page to the second page. I clicked to place my cursor at the beginning of these three lines and hit the backspace key-- it jumped back to the first page and then back onto the second page. I did not have keep with next feature on and I was not into the bottom margin. This is one feature of Windows that irritates me!!

I think you have reopened the file without saving it. you has been also promted a messege like that "Reopening will cause Undo the Changes you have made since last Opening" But u have Ignored that.
