Maybe the big man upstairs messed up whilst trying to create an orange and ended up with a complete lemon?

Smart question. Answer is very simple.

Just like you dont call water to tree, bird to cow in the same way we dont call lemons to yellows. some one named it, if you could have been there at the time of naming then i am sure we must have known lemons as yellows.

That is a good question, stupid but good. I will give you a stupid but good answer. An orange is shaped like an orange, but lemon is not shaped like a yellow? I am good.

Because we already had a colour Yellow.

But English people had never seen anything Orange until we discovered Oranges. Before then everything that was orange was only called Carrot.

The fruit originally was called 'a norange', from the spanish naranja, but those cunning english changed things to make it 'an orange'. The colour orange was named later, when someone thought of the first thing he could that was orange.

the word lemon is a colour so that lemon fruit is the colour lemon
and the orange colour is the colour of the orange

You haven't seen rest of the world yet. In some parts of the world orange from the outside looks green but inside is orange and sweeter juicier, indeed they call it orange. Now why is that?

oranges are of pure orange colour..but all lemons are not pure yellow colour..some have a bit of light green in it..
