My first child was not even walking when she was potty trained.I started her and the rest of my 2 others at 8 monthes and by the time they were 1 year old they were potty trained ! Really easy if you keep at it with lots of guidence..love and make a game of it keep a schedule going ! Works like a charm reward them bang on pots and pans when they go Celabrate clap you hands and make the biggest rukus when they do use the potty chair. Good Luck!

When you child is ready! I bought my daughter her potty when she was about 16 months old. Not to train her, just to introduce the potty to her. By the time she was around 18 months, she knew what it was for, but didn't start using it till she was about 22 months. Once she started, she was fine. One accident in bed at night when she was sick.

Kids are all so different though, some kids are ready earlier, some later. You will know when.

My advice is to introduce it before you think your child will be ready & let them make up their own mind when they feel like using it & when they decide to try it, do your best to praise them to the extreem but avoid getting cranky at them for having accidents, in my experiance, it can give the child a complex.
Good luck to your little one :o)

(My girl also felt strange doing her #2 cause it was no longer going to be a squish of sticky warmth on her bum, it was going to go straight down into this weird looking seat thing! Just thought I'd share that!)

As soon as my children could walk,I started walking them to the potty. I would put them on it first thing in the morning and then throughout the day after they would drink. They got used to it a little at a time, and in no time they were walking to it. Sure there were mishaps.but they knew what the potty was for and as their ability to hold it grew they made less and less mistakes. I trained 4 children like this. It worked for me and mine.

I always waited to start potty training until the child first slept dry all night. When I found a dry diaper in the morning I would rush them into the bathroom quickly and it didn't take long after that. Good luck.

I say you start at the age of one cause by the age of two you want them out of diapers and another thing it is harder to potty train a boy then it is to do a girl you will a male to help with that.

you should start potty training in the warmer months as it's so cold for them to try and do anything for you. It is easier in summer months how to sit on the potty as it is so hot so you do more with them and teach them what a potty is all about.

You can type but are not potty trained? I'd say start now.

If it is your kid you are talking about. When he/she is ready. 18 months is soon enough or even 24 months. The kid must at least have some idea what it is about and diapers being what they are that takes a long time these days.

We are going through this same thing right now. I know you can't rush them or put pressure them, it will just make the child nervous. Make sure they are old enough to understand what you expect them to do and then just give it a try. The first time she peed in the potty we made such a big deal that I think we scared her because she hasn't done it since. She just turned two.

we started around 15 months. by this time the child has usually exhibited a routine time. just set them on the potty seat and stay with them and encourage them. it will take some time to get them to understand, but that is o.k.
