Oh, I think its pretty "normal". I've done it myself but don't worry, you'll do something dumber and think about it for a while. I know this seems cliche, but over time, it will just fall to the back of your mind.

During times of an embarrassing situation, especially when the uncomfortable silence kicks in, it might help to practice having your sense of humor around to kind of bale yourself out of the embarrassing moment. I haven't met anyone yet who hasn't experienced what you are referring to, myself included. When it happens to me I laugh and say oops, i had a brain fart or say why did I just say that?, sometimes I even laugh at myself out loud. That usually breaks the silence. Replaying it over and over in your mind is your minds way of trying to figure out a how to make that moment a better one but it is too late, it is now the past. If it ever happens again remember to laugh about it right in front of everybody, it will break the ice with everyone. I think what will replay over and over in your mind if you do this won't be everyone remembering the "dumb" thing you said but how you had a sense of humor about it.

No one is perfect, we all make mistakes. You have to forgive yourself for being human. You should never call yourself, dumb, you are not dumb. Like me, you have to learn to not be so hard on yourself; and just laugh at those very small things in life.

Yes, it normal to punish yourself "stupid! stupid! stupid!" You keep re-living it. However, the event has probably been blown way out of proportion in your own distorted memory. People probably didn't care all that much or have totally forgotten about it already People have things to do APART from thinking about YOU. The point here is that you are not at the center of their universe: THEY ARE. This type of faux-pas happens to everybody: look at George W. Bush? He must say something entirely incomprehensible, plainly contradictory or just plain koo-koo at LEAST once every half-hour. Do you think he lies awake at night worrying? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....OH YA SURE HE DOES.......HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Don't let it get to you Ahmed. I have been there a million times. I just shrug it off and try not to let it happen again. Usual problem of mouth shooting off before brain is properly engaged. It has happened, is done and nothing can change it so don't bury yourself over something so trivial.

Remember one thing.
We all are masters at making Stupid mistakes.
If we keep torturing ourselves for those mistakes then you will be forever sad.
One does not become a better person by never making any mistakes.
Take this one as a lesson and learn something from it. That is how i deal with my stupid mistakes.

You may be overly anxious. Try deep breathing exercises, or aerobic activity, and see if that takes your mind off it.
If your thoughts significantly interfere with your daily functioning, then you may have generalized anxiety or OCD (obsessive/compulsive). If it really bothers you, ask for help from your family, or a counselor.

It's not healthy, everyone says stupid things, and everyone embarrasses themselves.
You learn and move on.
If it's a major issue that's negatively affecting your life in many ways, then you should talk to your doctor.
