No, the reason being that 'constipation' could be an intestinal blockage. Its very rare for a dog to get constipated.

Yes, and I could list some over the counter products that would be very effective...... but I won't! The simple reason being that there are many conditions which could lead to the perceived or actual signs of constipation in dogs. The conditions range from simple problems easily alleviated to serious conditions requiring surgery. Depending on the underlying cause using a laxative could make the problem considerably worse.
You must seek a vets advice. They will clinically examine your animal and provide you with a diagnosis and a suitable treatment plan.
p.s please ignore the advice recommending chocolate as a laxative. This is toxic to dogs.

dogs can get constipated but it is usually due to the wrong food give liver and if he is rubbing his bottom or twirling round to look at his bottom or screaming when he tries to go..go to a vet it could be anal gland problems rather than constipation ..many dried food boast that the feaces is small and hard so going by the texture of the feaces is no good he will have real problems going to the toilet and it will hurt him ...a quick visit to the vet is best try not to diagnose yourself the makeup of the digestive system of a dog is not the same as humans and what works for humans can do harm for a dog....

WHY!
If your dog has constipation that is so severe you think it needs medication take it to a Vet to find out the cause and the correct treatment.
Difficulty in passing feces may be caused by a bowel obstruction e.g. a foreign body or a tumour.

Dogs normally do not get constipated. I'd check with the vet to be sure the dog does not have a blockage or twisted bowel.

I agree that it is uncommon to need one for a dog but if it is recommended that he should get something canned pumpkin is a safe natural and vet recommended method. Ask how much because it will depend on his size most dogs have no problem eating it. good luck

Take the dog out for a walk in the countryside or a nearby field and let it graze on the grasses and herbs it will know which one it needs. Animals know what they need to fix minor ailments themselves
