Hmm. And with the answers posted already you probably still are. ;-)

Torah is the five books held most sacred in Judaism. (You'll know them as Genesis, Exodus, Numbers, Leviticus and Deuteronomy; we have different names in Hebrew.) Tradition says that G-d revealed them to Moses; scholarship says that they were written and compiled over centuries. Let's just say that there's a very wide diversity of opinion amongst Jews. :-)

Jewish tradition also values the Histories and Prophetic writings. Together with Torah proper, they are known as the Tanakh. There are also five additional 'scrolls' that have their place in the liturgical year. This is more or less what Christians call the "Old Testament" (Catholics and Protestants have different collections).

"Bible" comes from the Greek byblos, which just means book. Christians (and secular folk influenced by Christianity) use it to mean both the Jewish and Christian writings. Jewish usage varies.

"Old" and "New Testament" is Christian-centric terminology -- and one which is based entirely on the idea that Christianity superceded Judaism. I prefer to use less hierarchical language -- Torah, Tanakh (or Writings) and the Christian Canon.

OK Torah is the first five books of the Hebrew Bible otherwise known as the Old Testament. The New Testament recorded history some 400 years after the Hebrew Bible stopped.

Torah was written first, the bible is the English translation of the Torah, which was written in Hebrew, I think it was Hebrew. It was asked by King James for it to be translated into English, That is why it is called the King James Version.

Some consider that the Bible used to be positioned in combination on the council of Nicea, nevertheless, this isn't precisely actual. Many of the books of the Bible as we've it now have been observed to be side of stimulated Scripture, however the canon used to be now not finalized till so much later. The one of a kind books of the Bible have been written by way of many one of a kind fingers (a few books, like Genesis are believed to were written by way of a couple of one of a kind authors after which pieced in combination as Jewish culture solidified for the period of the Babylonian exile) and the books have been written over the direction of a couple of thousand years. A lot of books by way of plenty of one of a kind Christian groups with differing viewpoints have been ignored, that's unlucky due to the fact we've misplaced plenty of the early Christian historical past because of the burning of many of those books.

the torah is pretty much the half of the old testament. The bible was completed with the gospel after Jesus was crucified and rose again. The bible consists of the torah and the gospels.

Well the Torah was written first and Christianity just added to it to make an even more confusing and superstitious religion.

No one really knows. The only thing we know for sure is that the book most people call the bible was invented by the Catholic church in a process that began in 325 CE and ended around 400 CE.

In other words, it took nearly one hundred years for the Catholic church to actually decide what was actually supposed to be in their "divinely inspired" book.

Jews are still arguing over what is supposed to be in their books.
