If your relationship was somewhat healthy... then your ex was a friend that bloomed into something more. friends don't dump friends just because their relationship changes...

if you can handle it hold onto the friendship. you picked this person because you hopefully had something in common with her.

i hate it when love, lust, like... whatever... turns to hate... when people who were dating break it off and all of the sudden they can't stand eachother. hello!!!!! you probably had a sexual relationship with this person.. you've shared your soul withe person... why would you hate them?????

get over whatever came between the two of you... have open communication where you allow both of you to talk without interupption about what went wrong (or not) and tell eachother how it would be great to be what you were in the first place... FRIENDS!!!!!!! you will gain so much more by dealing with this person in a loving way than turning your past into a hate relationship. it is much more healthy and great for the soul to love (even as friends) than to not.

want to be friends? then BE a friend... forgive her.

It depends on why you broke up, the kind of person they are and sometimes it depends on who ended it.

Did you end it amicably? Or did you dump the person and they are holding onto you just hoping one day you will change your mind? And what are your reasons for hanging onto the friendship? If they weren't cutting it as a significant other then its doubtful they will cut it as a friend.

Now if you ended it nicely and theres no hurt feelings there then by all means go for a friendship but give it some time.

If you are hurting because of the break-up or any acts that led up to the break-up then truly its healthier without them. Life's too short to hold on to caustic people.
