No doubt you're under more pressure to make a purchase when you go shopping, and it's not uncommon to be unpleasantly hinted at by a salesperson. But it doesn't absolutely suck. In fact, the variety of goods and the bargains far outweight any little snags you run across in the service.
Singapore is the best country in the world :)

The good service standards of Singapore is over. That was about 10 years ago. Why ? Singaporeans realised nowadays money talk. You want anythings; special or normal, you have to pay. As our minister said that there is no free lunch in Singapore. Thus, how to provide good service if you don't pay.

Basically I feel tt it is the minority group in Singapore tt make us feel tt our service standard is awful. As a customer, when we step into any shops the basic thing we expect is tt the sales person should know where is a item being placed. if we are unable to find it, they should be able to direct us to the area or tell us which classification is the item being listed as.
I do have a very pleasant experience with one of the retailer shop. Actually I was doing my window shopping on tt shop but the sales person actually introduce some of the products even thought I tell him I am just looking around. It is her sincerity tt made me buy one set of her new product from the shop. I believe it is up to individual to make the extra effort to improve on the service standard.

Singapore is one of the most efficient countries in the world with minimum bureaucracy. Service standards too are amongst the best in the world - everything is done on time and promptly, personal attention is given in any Singapore Airline flight and generally the country itself is very service-oriented. However, there are unfortunately some rude people I saw during my visit there who hamper the whole image of the small place!

Actually, whether you get good or bad service depends very much on yourself.
The confidence you project etc during the process.
If the service ppl gives bad services demand for good service right away and not keep quiet and tahan onlylah. Screw them up properly and talk to a superior of his/her.
Create a big scene, preferably loudly, so that other customers present know of it.
You are about to pay hard earn money for the service, so don't part with it so easily.

I didn't really shop in Singapore when I went there last, but I did have some unpleasant experience with the people working at the hotel though. We were checking out, and two guys went to collect our luggage. I knew that we should tip them, but we didn't have the money ready right then. I noticed that they just stood there with their face "straight" and "stern" AND with their hands reaching out!!! I really found that rude!!! Other than that, I found their country super clean and tidy, and I really liked that.
