Does it really make a difference if you wait til the day after you break up to hook up with that person, at least as far as hurting the other is concerned?

It's cheating anytime before both parties know the relationship is over.

until the time you break the last tie also with the first one you cannot sy you really ended up with that person. You can have a hook up after that. Before that what ever name you call it - the final name to call is CHEATING
