Well, aside from joining the military (which is often the answer for a question like that), you could do charitable volunteer work. If you're unable or unwilling to do that "grunt work" yourself, you could donate to those charities that help out the needy.

A country isn't defined by its land or politics, but by its people. Do what YOU can to improve your fellow mans life and world. There are so many different outlets for such work depending on what you consider to be important, whether its the NAACP, Habitat for Humanity, the US Red Cross.. etc etc. You can spend your efforts on a national level, or a local level, but working to help your fellow man, in my opinion, is the best thing you can do to serve your country. It's contagious, and it will better all of our futures.

Serving country entails joining military, you could also be a support in enlistment isn't an option for you there are groups that set up events, reunions, rallies, voting booths, and such. What level of serving are you wanting to do?

By doing everything you can to remove the Christo-fascists currently dominating the U.S. government by voting them into oblivion starting in November. Joining any military controlled by the idiot currently sitting in The White House is NOT serving your country.

fighting corruption and injustice at my own level. it's the best thing I can do, when I refuse to participate in things which are against the normal practice, then I serve my country better than going to war.

Doing productive work, paying your taxes, being informed, voting, and obeying the law. If everyone did those things, the world would be a much better place in which to live.

By tutoring children, visiting shut-ins, reading to the blind, cleaning up your neighborhood park, starting a neighborhood watch... all sorts of ways.
