People with A blood type have A antigens on the surface of their red blood cells, and around in the blood itself, they have B antibodies. That is why they can't have blood from B or AB person, because these have B antigens which will clog the blood of A people when mixed with it.

People who have type A blood do not have the B factor. So when their body comes in contact with it , it thinks it is a foreign body in the blood and makes antibodies against it.It is a factor that exists on the red blood cells so it can be demonstrated on a glass slide when the 2 blood types are mixed as they might be in cross matching. for a transfusion. Not that they would mix A and B , but that is the idea in cross matching to find 2 bloods that do not react.

There are bacteria within the gut which express antigens on their surface which have sufficient homology to the major blood group antigens to allow for production of cross-reactive antibodies. This is why someone with type A blood, whose immune system has never been exposed to the type B protein, has preformed circulating antibodies against it (in actuality against those gut flora, but the antibody cross-reacts).

During blood transfusion, the antigen in the red blood corpuscles of the donor's blood reacts with the antibodies present in the plasma of the recipient's blood.Karl Landsteiner found that mismatching of blood occurs if the antigen of donor's blood and antibodies of recipient's blood do not match. He termed the antibody which matches with A antigen as antibody B and the antibody which matches with B antifen as antibody A . He said that the antigen and antibodies of the same name do not match.
so,the answer to your question is that Karl Landsteiner has named it in such a way
