Of course you are talking about the Good Samaritan. Everyone loves the story of the good samaritan because it shows that we can all be compassionate. I live in the south where it is unthinkable that blacks and whites would consider themselves brothers. But Christ didn't admonish us to love our neighbors (that we liked) as ourselves. Christ said in no uncertain terms that we are to love our neighbors as we love ourselves.
HERE IS THE PROBLEM: Some of us don't even like ourselves much less love ourselves. So how can we LOVE our neighbors if we love ourselves if we can't even feel love toward ourselves. We find more reasons to hate ourselves---we want to lose weight, have face lifts, be nicer, be smarter, be more fashionable, drive a nicer car, live in a nicer neighborhood. We never take time to appreciate everything we have right now. We are greedy and we want more. We don't have time to shed our love abroad because we are focused on our flaws and what we need to do to make our lives better.
One day---we will all give account. When we had an opportunity to be the good samaritan and we chose to cross over to the other side of the road----cos our plastic surgeon was waiting for us with our physical fitness trainer and our psychoanalyst. *sigh*

This is not a place to be preaching your ideals, there are many people on this earth and each have there own form of religion and or belief system, it is people like yourself that demand others change to change their ways, that cause such animosity in the world, do you not see the detriment you are causing by judging others......be a true christian, and love others for who they are, not for what you think you can make them be, otherwise you yourself are just like the preist that also crossed the road when the man needed help. Think before you Judge.
By the way natural, iam not judging anyone, i am simply asking you to look inside yourself and treat others with respect.....i think you are the one, that has misunderstood me, perhaps look at the way you have written your statement - (for instance it looks like you are demanding others to look at the way they live rather than giving suggestions to improve their way of life instead).....Its easier to be a guide line then a judge.

I am one of these people who believes everyone should be treated as if they were one of your nearest and dearest. If you are not doing this you should ask yourself why? However, this has nothing to do with Jesus Christ per se. This is a fundamental belief within the Bhuddist belief system also as well as many other religions. I, myself, am not the remotest bit religious. I do not believe in God but treat others with the respect they deserve as a human being. You do not need religion to teach you this and make you a 'good' person.

In the sense of nieghbour living in close proximity, no I dont love them, they show no consideration to others not allowing each of us to live our own peaceful existance, no seem compelled to share their music etc at all hours, selfish s###s.
As to a more general sense of neighbour as in mankind, I dont
tend to walk on by well mostly times have changed unfortunately I now consider my own safety.

I don't like either one of my neighbors. I caught the one on the left dumping his leftover cooking grease in my yard. I caught the one on the right shooting bottle rockets at my car and setting off firecrackers in my tailpipe.

No, I'm not like that. First of all I'm not homeless. And second, nobody is like that. It's just a fairy tale.
