Spanish people are very religious and the nam Jesus has a tradition there. Not in a english speaking world. Kids will make fun of him and I'm sure it will annoy him all life...

It's not unknown, and recently -- like biblical names generally -- is making the lists of most common baby names in parts of the USA. Meaning, I suppose, the Bible belt and also places of major Latino migration.

Assigning a religous name to a child is making a political tool and object of that child. And perhaps disadvantaging him or her in later life. This is true whether the name is Mohamed or Jesus or Jehudi. Although as a practical matter, if the child becomes rich, smart and brilliantly successful the name won't matter too much. Think of Jehudi Menuhin. And in Anglo-Saxon countries (but not so easily in most Civil Law countries) a name can readily be changed. By deed poll in England.

Well its even more popular in other parts of the world (English speaking countries). After all, its either used with great reverence or as vulgar language.

Either way the boy's name is gonna be frequently used.

Why not try Hitler or Karl Marx instead? Its just another name right?

I see nothing wrong with the name but, kids can be cruel, the child might be chastised throughout their childhood with a name like Jesus. Why not name him Sally? It'd work out about the same.

I think that automatically puts too much pressure on the kid to live up to the name. The kid would always feel like a failure. It's also a little pretentious in my opinion.

problems with the English christian concept of taking the name of their god in vain(vanity), but they will use other names that are close to their lords name like Christopher, but not Christ or Jesus. To them that would be the same as calling him God
