I don't know the name of the headphones that you use when shooting a gun, but if you want to get rid of noise, the headphones are called noise canceling headphones.
How they work. The headphones create a soundwave in the exact opposite form of the soundwave being picked up. The sounwaves cancel each other out and you get no sound.

First, it's usually illegal to wear any type of headphones while driving. Safety issue....you wouldn't be able to hear emergency vehicles.
We just finished a 2,000 mile car trip with our three kids. The best thing we did was bring our laptop, GameCube, movies, books, and games. They were WELL occupied and didn't argue, not even a little bit.

duct tape on their mouths works very well. and is cheaper!!
