Yeah, I know it's supposed to be for love and all but come on. When they are planning the wedding you hardly ever hear them say "I want to get the best flowers, food, the best band, the most lavish hall, the most beautiful dress, the cutest bride's maid dresses, the best shoes, and invite everyone I know because I love you."

Not real hip on the concept of marriage, are you?

For some women "marriage" and "the wedding" may be a key goal. But I suspect more of them are looking for long term love and commitment toward achieving common goals. And many use marriage and a wedding at a method toward that objective.

I think I see where you are coming from. Today's weddings are costing in the range of between $10,000 and $50,000. A little out of hand I'd say. Yes, it is HER day.

Life is not perfect, and they would like the perfect dream wedding. That's how wedding planners have come into being. At few other times in a woman's life will she have such control over events as at this time. Then, it's back to work, family, responsibilities, in-laws, eventually children, the general hum-drum of everyday life.

The goal is not the wedding and the sacrifice of her husband to be's freedom, it is the relationship. But she will never again have the luxury of attention, and the trappings of romance and the solemn vows of marriage.

Feeling a little trapped and ignored are we? This behavior will be over and done with in about two months. You'll get over it. Your bachelor party should help assuage the angst.

no it isn't. if it is for a particular person then she is very materialistic and doesn't give a crap about anyone. planning the wedding brings nothing but fights and annoyance. What really counts is looking in your lover's eyes as you say your vows and knowing that it is the first day of your new life together forever. women who have the wedding as the ultimate goal have their standards very low and will probably be married several times, they don't deserve to get married if you ask me.

The wedding is every woman's dream from childhood.

It is the next best thing to becoming a queen for the day....

For that day she is royalty...

Every woman's knight in shinning armour wants to make his lady's dream come true.

Too bad you consider yourself a someone's sacrifice instead of someone's knight in shinning armour...

Ummm, if she's getting "stuck" with someone for a "sacrifice" i don't think she should be married at all. Is she in an arranged marriage or something?
