first of all you are not old fashioned. A child needs sleep to stay healthy and grow properly. Sleep is important, just like proper nutrition and exercise...you wouldn't starve your child, so don't deprive her of sleep. Children actually grow when they sleep. I think a bedtime of no later than 9pm if you can get her in by 8pm even better. Establish a bedtime routine. Have her take her shower or bath, sit with her for a story or a tv show, then off to bed. Say prayers with her if you do that. Make sure she goes to the bathroom and give her a sip or two of water, then night night. She may complain at first because her friends stay up later. But it will become routine and she will be fine. Staying up past her bedtime on rare occasions is fine. But not the norm, on the weekends once in a while, while a friend is over etc, or there is something special she wants watch on tv. But if you keep this bedtime routine. she will be healthier and make better grades in school. Good luck.

Good for their friends, huh? I'm 14 and still have a bedtime! (It's 9:30 on school nights and whenever on weekends and summer, so I'm not complaining) For a 7 year old I would say 8 to 8:30 would be right. But you know what?...... You're the adult, no them! You tell your children when it's bedtime and they should listen! What their friends' parents allow their kids to do don't affect your kids. But you coul let them stay up longer when there's no school but have a set time during school. Right now, since school is coming up, 10 is my set time and a week befor school is back to normal school bedtime.

So overall, you're the adlut so you get to make the rules but I would say 8 to 8:30 would be reasonable.

I say you let her stay up as long as she wants. There is NO point in giving a bed time, because your child will still be awake. I remember when I was little, and had a bedtime, I would stare at the wall for a few hours, or listen to my radio, or etc. Finally when I was a pre teen, my parents stopped caring, and didn't give me a bed time. They realized it is pointless since i won't be sleeping anyhow. Just let your daughter sleep when she is tired. If she wants to go to sleep at 3 am, fine! Let her do so. After a few nights of no sleep, she'll learn her lesson on her own and give herself a bed time.

Good luck!

In the summer she does not have to get up in the morning, I'd say before 10PM. During the school year, around 8:30-9PM depending on what time she has to get up for school. She should get 10 hours of sleep a night at that age.

i would say that 9:00 would be a good tome for a 7 year old girl i have a 7 year old sister and by that time if she is not in bed then she cant get on the comp or watch t.v so she knows she better be going to bed by 8:50

I think no later than 8:30 on school nights and no later than 10:00 on weekends/vacations. Hmmmm..... I'm not surprised about her friends not having bed times or curfews. You aren't old fashioned, you're a PROPER parent who has house rules for the well being of your child.

I say 9:00pm to 9:30pm on school nights. Start to get ready an hour before: bath/brush teeth and nights out at the time.

Weekends, I say 10:30-11pm. Depends on the occasion.

My mom had that and I babysit and care for kids these ages with those times.

If no set bed time, it makes it hard on parents who need that quiet time before their bed or "no sleep" kids who want to stay up til 1am in the morning. Or those do not want to get up in the morning.

9pm quite time, 9:30 lights out on school days or for a busy next day and for non-school days, 9:30 quite time and 10pm lights out.(bedtime) but if she is crabby during the day you can move it back a half hour.(even for one night of early bed time due to crabby) and it sounds like the "friends" parents don't care about their kids like you do yours... cerfew time should be when the street likes goes on or 6pm for supper then stick close to the house like front yard or close neighbor until 8pm stick to your rules and sooner or later she will respect you for making boundries and learn she has rules to follow even if her friends don't..and remind her you are doing it because you care and love her..

8-8:30 during the school year, and in the summer 9:00.

9 o'clock for lights out, so starting to get ready for bed at 8.30.

If your daughter says no other 7 year olds she knows has bedtimes I think she is fibbing, or her friends parents are irresponsible

Stick to your guns on this one I say
