Bastogne is famous for the battle during second World War, in the winter of 1944. It was an important battle for the ending of the war. There are some monuments about this.

Bastogne is in the Ardennes, an area with a lot of forests, where you can make a lot of walks or bicycle tours.
In April there's the famous bicycle race Liège-Bastogne-Liège.

It's a quiet city, only in spring and summer there are a lot of tourists in the area, most of them Flemish people (of the North of Belgium) and Dutch people, staying on camping or vacation-houses.

Bastogne is quite a very small city, well known because of the "battle of the bulge" in WW2. you can visit the "Mardasson" being site dedicated to WW2 ... other wise I would suggest to drive around... nice small cities
