I find it bizarre that people want to deprive somebody of his career over a very mild case of getting the attention of his horse that was misbehaving. It was poor judgment to do it on camera in this overly sensitive politically correct world; but it wasn't anything to cost a man his livelihood.

The only reason this got attention was because of the whole Zidane thing. Sure, it wasn't the smartest or most effective punishment, but let's face it, the horse WAS acting up. Plus, like someone said, the horse didn't even seem to care/notice.
I'm actually very happy no action was taken against the jockey, that would have been ridiculous.

The horse never flinched. There was already a precedent set - the same suspension given for a jockey who threw a whip at a horse. It was poor judgement and a stupid overreaction that taught the horse nothing...but I don't think *cruelty*.

Animal Abuse is illegal. One day won't change him. He's a mo-fo.
The Zidane thing had nothing to with it. Zidane got punished and this jockey got one day off, wow, can you say vacation? He was probably glad. There's no excuse for HEAD-BUTTING an ANIMAL. Gawd, people are dumb.

I was disgusted with that jockey , and was appaled at the suspension of only one day or race, whatever it was.
He should be charged, and suspended for at least 6 months from racing,
What he done, was animal cruelty , and there is no reasoning for that.

I think it was done as a "crowd-pleaser"! The horse wasn't harmed & neither was the man...he is probably enjoying a day without all the ridiculous bullsh*t from people who don't know anything about the racetrack lifestyle or how the Stewards make their decisions!

Personally, I think that he should have been expelled from racing, meaning that he should have had his jockey's lisence removed. It will be interesting to see how much racing he does now, since no good reputable stable is going to want to bring negatve publicity on themselves by hiring him.

Dude, there was no animal cruelty, it was a light hit. It wasn't a Zidane. Now that was bad.

He hardly hit that horse.....horses weight 1,000+ lbs......a little headbutt like that couldn't have hurt it at all.
