Some guys were walking around our estate today placing pamphlets that said "Come and witness God's Miracles - A presentation with Pastor George Millen" with some dates and locations. Does that mean that theoretically I could place Scientology pamphlets in people letter boxes too?????

I live in australia - people can put what ever they like in your letterbox...unless it has a 'no junkmail' sign then all they can put in it is letters.

Only mail carriers are supposed to put anything in your mail box. Complain and the law will be involved. It's a felony to mess with the mail. If it goes in the box it needs a stamp and be delivered through the mail. That's why they always litter on my door step. Could they just save some of god's trees and email me instead?

This was an ignorant person who doesn't know that what he was doing is against the law. Your mail box that you bought and paid for isn't yours it is government property for use by the Postal Authority only. They should at least have come to your door and left their pamphlets there..

No.
It is a violation of postal regulations (in the US) to place anything in a mailbox other than mail.
If you report the organization, they will get a very nasty letter from the postal service advising them they should not be using mailboxes without authorization (i.e., paid postage).
If there is no restriction on using mailboxes, you should start your own service delivering junk mail to everyone's mailbox.
That would be really annoying having people shoving their junk circulars & flyers in your postal box.

You aren't supposed to put anything in letter boxes (mail boxes) unless you have put a postage stamp on it and it's been cancelled by the postal service. If you are going to put out flyers you should put them on the outside.

Theoretically speaking, anything is possible. What's the big deal, anyway? If you don't like the pamphlet, throw it away.

It's against federal law to use mailboxes to hand out literature unless it's mailed, the inside of the mailbox is actually considered federal property.

Depends on where you live. In the US, placing anything in a mailbox, that doesn't have the proper paid postage is a federal offense.

you can place them on the mailbox between the flag and the box. You are not to open anybody's mail box and put it inside.
