If you stick to the same quantity, it should help. Consuming 500 less calories a day or burning 500 more then you consume will lead to weightloss. I switched from wine to wine spritzers and my calorie intake is from said wine is half of what it was.

I don't know why that other person said that light beer has more calories than regular---it doesn't.
Light beer usually has a 4% alcohol content, and about 1/2 to 2/3 the calories of a regular beer. One regular beer has 5% alcohol and aroun 200-230 calories.

Most definently. Most light beer has only a few calories. However, light beer still has calories and less alcohol. You may end up drinking more light beer (to get a buzz) and end up consuming just as many calories as if you were to drink regular beer.

No. It depends on how much you drink- if a lot, then a lighter beer will help- but if is occasional, then it probably doesnt make a difference.
