Does Yahoo have something against the non-religious... Why is there no subcategory in this section, and no chat room either...?

Earl D, consider yourself having been given "the look"...wise guy...eesh. lol Whether people believe it or not non-believers come to this second because what people believe is an important part of life, even if it's non-belief. And personally I think it needs a subcategory in this section. Or at least the chat room, I mean, come on!

It's a question often asked in the chat rooms. I have no good answer. Here they don't have sub-categories for different faiths and different denominations, so it isn't as glaring that there's no area just for non-believers. But in the chat rooms it makes no sense. I've been to other websites that had atheist/agnostic chat rooms and they could be nice places. Generally, left alone atheists spend little time discussing atheism. It's nice to be able to socialize with like minded people even if all you are discussing at the moment is your kids or South Park or hummus. But, of course, every chat room has a lot of challengers coming to them. Most are just trolls and have no personal beliefs. They just want attention and don't care how crude or disruptive they have to be to get it. Others are the people who feel the need to try to convert or criticize. A very few are just curious and have real questions. When you hang out in such a room you conclude that religious people are exceptionally pushy and rude and inconsiderate. But I've also hung out as a regular in a couple of Christian chat rooms and they are just as frequently visited by pugnacious, argumentative critics who disrupt the conversation and think they are presenting new challenges when what they are saying is the same thing someone just like them said ten minutes ago.
So, to summarize, even giving us a room of our own doesn't mean the room will stay our own. But it is a nice alternative and there's no reason why, if other groups have rooms to call their own, Yahoo! doesn't make one for non-believers. One won't do in the long run, there's always cliques and infighting. That's why I never did stick with any of the rooms. That and the systems they were on pulled the chat room plugs.

If you're talking about atheism and agnosticism categories, I don't really think they're separable from religion. People have beliefs just like religion, although they may be more personal since there's no book to dictate laws.
Maybe you could consider it an interpretation of the spirit and have it fall into spirituality like that.

My guess is that yahoo knows non religious people don't really want to argue and debate about their beliefs.

because all the non-religious people keep answering question in the religion/spirituality category. instead of going to say ummmmm the science category...p.s. why don't you e-mail yahoo and ask them.
