He probably misses you. Our cat used to get one of my daughter's dolls from her room and take it to his bed when she wasn't home. At first I thought my daughter was putting it in his bed before she left. Took me forever to figure out that the cat was actually putting it there.
Maybe you could get him something smaller with a similar feel and smell.

You are lucky. One evening during a dinner for friends my cat drug out a bra.....That will halt dinner conversation (smile) I have a couple that drag things around and some talk while they are doing it. I thought maybe it was a "I have no babies thing", then one of my boys started doing it. They pull the bedspread off the pillows down over the bed, drag bath towels. Go figure. I have worked with animals, mostly cats for over 30 years and I can't give you a better answer than that. Maybe they are like Linus with his blanket.
Anyway, I think it is cute, most of the time and as long as he is not causing any damage I wouldn't worry about it. Good luck.

It could be for a lot of reasons. He may do it because it smells like you and he wants to be around you. More then likely, he is just being playful. My cat has this red ribbon that she drags around at night. I have never witnessed it, but I wake up in the morning to find it in a different location.

If it's a male cat, chances are he's having sex with it. My cat has sex with my bulky blanket when no ones around. He doesn't even have his balls but apparently still gets the urge.

im not sure how it is with cats, but with dogs they get lonely real easy, if u give your cat a something to chew on, maybe a catnip toy when you leave he/she wont do that, take it away when you get back home. that way your cat wont see it as you leacing, but as a time for playing with the toy.
