Unfortunately, no product on earth will fix split ends and breakage. And leaving the problem untreated will only make it worse. Splits travel up the hair shaft, making it weak and break.

You need a good trim. Get all the splits trimmed off. Then start being nice to your hair. Use gentle products, don't pile your hair on top of your head when washing. Gently detangle in the shower with a wide tooth comb while your hair is soaked in conditioner.
Don't rub your hair with a towel. Just wrap and blot. Oil, then comb with a wide tooth comb. Never, never use a brush on wet or damp hair. You will stretch and split and break your hair.

Avoid heat. No blowdryers, hot rollers, curling irons or flattening irons. If your hair is long, consider a nice updo to protect your hair from friction and wind that can cause more splitting. I hope this helps a bit. Good luck with your hair.

Get your hair cut every six weeks, even if its just a fraction of a trim. Split ends start at about 4 to 6 weeks depending on abuse. Proteins have nothing to do with split ends. Oil doesn't do any good for split ends. It does have some conditioning qualities though. Breakage could be from friction such as ponys and such. Get some professional hair care products and use sparingly as they are highly concentrated. They actually last longer than over the counter stuff, we are just used to using so much that we have to retrain ourselves to use less.

Make sure you have a professional to trim your ends every 3-6 months, it promotes growth to have those dead ends out of the way and that could be a reason why your ends keep splitting???

Another thing my mom used to do is apply olive oil to my hair and I would either do one of two things: 1) sleep in a shower cap overnight (friday's) with the olive oil applied to my scalp and wash it the next morning or 2) get up early in the morning (saturday) and place olive oil on my scalp, then afternoon wash my hair...

Otherwise, consult a professional hair salonist.

u need to eat a more balanced diet, or start taking a multiviatmin. the other thing to try is the john frieda dry hair treatment stuff. in comes in little tubes, 3 to a pack. it is clear and looks like the V05 hot oil, but this stuff is sooooo much better. its like 5 dollars at walmart but well worth it. it is clear and u just put it on in the shower for 3 minutes, no heating required. and it does NOT leave ur hair greasy at all like hot oil treatments. i frost my hair on a regular basis and this is the 1st thing that repaired the damages 1st use.

Mend? Like stitching & needle? no longer attainable. occasion: whilst there's a large windstorm, and branches are breaking and falling, ought to you mend them? or in simple terms cut back them so new enhance starts off? same with hair. whilst they have chop up, and this is broken, there's no hair product that would fix that. you would be able to desire to confirm why your hair is splitting a lot. this is as a results of fact of many motives. you're over brushing it. you're brushing it whilst this is moist. Use a salon quality shampoo and conditioner. I use Back 2 Basics(raspberry almond). Make sure you drink lots of water and eat foods with omega fatty acids and vitamin e. Also if you wear your hair up in a tight band it can cause breakage. Hope this helps.

Avoid too much brushing and sun exposure. Use a conditioner specifically for your hair type giving special attention to the tips. If you can afford it, try hair spa. If its that worst, see a doctor. Some hair problems have a real cause.

The problem is not that your needs protien - I would stop adding any intense protien for a while unless you balance the protien with moisture. The oil is doing NOTHING for your hair. Oil is for your scalp - and even then the benifits are not very skin deep. One of the things that people don't understand about protien is a very hard nutrient (feel your finger nail, it is a huge concentration of protien). If you get too much protien then your hair can become over keritanized - that means brittle. It can even break or split more easily because it has too much protien. Think of your hair like the rest of your body - it needs a balanced diet to be healthy. You might love chicken and spinach - but if that is all you eat your missing out on a ton of other things your body needs. Your hair needs total nutrition too.

Don't get me wrong. Protien is not all bad - in fact it is good. It's just that too much of a good thing is not so good. Look for a shampoo that is moisturizing and contains panthenol. Panthenol is a moisturizer that is also a moisture regulator. That means that your hair will only absorb as much as it needs. Any additional panthenol in the product that your hair does not accept will rinse away as opposed to build up on the hair. You need to start with a high quality good shampoo - not any grocery store junk!

Your hair / skin / beauty / body products are like food in more ways than one. Think of it this way; You can get a steak at a fine steak houst OR something called a steak sandwitch at Jack in the Box. Now, technically they are both made from somthing that was once a cow - but how good is that fast food steak compared to the fine steak? Quality is everything.

With a high quality shampoo, you will apply it to your hair, work up the lather from scalp to ends - and let it soak for two minutes before you rinse. I know that no one tells us this but it is true. I have worked with chemists who develop haircare products for years. If you let it "soak into" your hair for two minutes you will get more of the benefits from the nutrition in the shampoo. Sometimes you need to shampoo twice. If you are converting from a cheap shampoo (Suave, Pert, Pantien, Dove) you should shampoo twice for the first two to three weeks. You will want to get the "junk" off of the outside layer of your hair. Many cheap products contain the bad kind of silicone. Long chain silicones make the hair feel better at first - but then they build up and the hair feels dry/brittle/looks dull, and real conditioning agents cannot pass through them to deliver nutrients.

OK, now you are ready for a conditioner. Make sure it too has a balance of protien and moisture. If you have fine hair find a product that will give you body and moisture. Most products for body just rough the hair up to make it look fuller and that won't help you. There is a great product from a company named KMS California called AddVolume that I use on my own hair. The shampoo is great but the conditioner is amazing! It is a gel conditioner so it works differently than the heavy creams I have used in the past. It feels light and the hairshaft is smooth after use. What ever you choose remember to invest in good products. It never ceases to amaze me that women will spend $10.00 to get a dress dry cleaned that they only wear a few times a year but they want a shampoo for .99c. You wear your hair every day for pete's sake! OK - sorry for that. Make sure you leave your conditioner on your hair as long as the directions say. It will only be a minute or two but don't rush it.

Now, in addition to the shampoo and conditioner you will need a few other things to nurse your hair back to health. You will want an intensive treatment to use once or twice per month. You will also need to have some styling products to protect your hair if you use heat (blow dryer or hot irons). There is a world of great products out there. I mentioned KMS California because I use it and love it. They have quite a few divisions to their line that perform extremely well. There are some good products from Pureology, Rene Furterer, Ojon, and Prive` on the high end of the price scale. KMS is not expensive compared to those other lines I mentioned. You will want to stay away from Paul Mitchell, Nexus, and Toni & Guy products. They will rate too low on the low end of the scale. Look for products with antioxidents, panthenol, heat protection, and good silicones.

Let's not forget your body too. Make sure you are drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day. Not soda - EVEN DIET SODA is bad for your body. Get enough sleep, maintain a healthy diet and supplemental nutrition. Important nutrients for your body are important nutrients for your hair, skin, and nails.

I know this sounds more like a lecture than an answer - but I am pretty passionate about beautiful hair. It is the one accessory you can proudly display at all times and change as often as you like. I hope this helps in some way.

Feel free to contact me if you want.
