i got priority date for immigrant visa whilst in home country, i am now in the US on a visitor visa can i get my status adjusted whilst here, to remain here legally until a number becomes available my mom is a naturalized citizen and has financial support very well covered, help boston857

I think you need to call the immigration dept and speak to someone there. Immigration is difficult at these times as it is becoming politically correct to oppose immigration and close our borders.

If you can adjust status to LPR before the six months is up, then by all means do it. But watch out about overstaying without a legal extension. If you stay out of status for more than 180 days, there is an automatic bar to re-entry of five years which will also affect your ability to adjust.
