human teeth are made up of hardest substance in the human body called ENAMEL made up of hard calcium oxalate and other calcium derivatives. This is very hard to break down but constant deposition of plaque which forms due to incessant accomdation of bacteria on enamel degenerates this. Its a long process and prior to yr eventual tooth ache , the enamel would have been housing the bacteria atleast 2 yrs ago! Thats why we brush to prevent this fiasco and massacre of the enamel.
when you die , all elements constituting yr body return back to the earth, in short the microbes effectively break it down.Bur since the keratinized enamel of the tooth is very very hard for these natural saprophytes of earth, it just flakes and yellows down but never gets totally disintegrated.Same applies for the bones, they are made od calcium matrices and sporophytes which decay n feed on our body upon death are just not compatible with calcium derived produtct's degeneration.
the result, yr teeth live on , flaked n miserable , waiting for the tooth fairy.........if she dares to enter yr grave than yr pillow that is!!

Teeth in dead folk are no longer are in the presence of saliva which stick and hold the sugars and other decay inducers to the teeth. Keep your teeth dry (or clean), no decay!

We're not eating sugary foods when we're dead. We're not chewing and wearing down enamel when we're dead. We're not doing anything that decays teeth when we're dead. We're just busy being dead.
