I was watching my kids years ago and predicted they would grow up to be millionaires by the year 2010. That, of course, makes it true.

You are a little confused but not far off: December 21, 2012 is the end of the Mayan "Cyclical Long Period" and is to usher in the next "Cyclical Long Period" which is I believe the 26,000 year Precession period of the Earth on it's axis. And is also related to our Solar system cycle along the Galactic plane which is 52,000 years I believe.
In any case, December 21, 2012 is the meeting of these 2 cycles where the Earth Starts it's next 26,000 year Precession Cycle and our Solar Sytem starts it's Next Galactic Plane Cycle not for another 26,000 years will these cycles meet again! 8-)

well they didnt predict it would end necessarily. they had a way to calculate time that ended more or less around 2010. interestingly enough, if you read the bible code (great book btw), it is encoded in the bible that the world will end around 2010. also, there needs to be a world war 3 (isreal and lebanon?) interesting stuff. not sure how true most of it is tho. people have been predicting the end of time for a long time now and no one has been right yet

The Bible says that NO ONE, not even Jesus, would know or could predict when the end of the world will happen.
DID YOU KNOW?....
The word, 'Armegeddon' actually means; to draw back the curtain; to reveal?
It is NOT the end of the world (as we know it...).
The night before this show aired there was a special on Hell. The Devil's Domain.
**Hell is an actual physical place right here on earth.
**Some religious scholars believe that "tne end of the world" is a highly personal thing that takes place in the 'mind' right after a person dies. Lucifer and God, in essence, fight for your soul...
(I hope this helped! Twilight Zone theme tune)

They did not predict that the world was going to end.
Their calendar goes in cycles, the end of the current cycle is in 2012, this does not mean the world is going to end just that a new cycle for the calendar will begin

I think the Mayan calendar was a couple days out each year. So the Mayan year 2012 may have already passed.

The "End of the Earth" interpretation is still in question. They worked their calendar to the end of one of the major cycles that their astronomical observations predicted which occures in December of 2012 with the Winter solstace. I believe that it is a Galactic year, which is one orbit of solar system around the galaxy.

Jesus predicted the end of the earth would be ~20 years or so after his death, the Jehovah's witnesses picked sometime in the 1970s, 2001 was popular for some time, so frankly I'm not worried.

every culture has had someone that has predicted the end and the only reason for some of the predictions actually being right is because of the way they have been interpreted. i could tell you the world is going to end tomorrow and if a loved one of yours leaves you you may believe that your world did end its all a matter of interpretation.
