Remember Jesus said "why the world hates you...just remember it hated me before it hated you. if you were of the world, the world would love you. but you are not of the world therefore the world hates you." "if they accept my words, they will accept your words. if they don't accept my words, they will not accept your worlds." "Blessed are you when men shall revile you and persecute you and say all manner of evil against you falsely for my name's sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad for great is your reward in heaven".

I totally understand your frustration. I am not a Christian, I'm kind of on the fence, but I understand your feelings. Your question is a good one whether people want to recognize that or not. The fact of the matter is, the Bible is a complex piece of literature that can only be properly understood through it's historical contexts. Unfortunately, many people automatically judge the Bible by modern standards of culture and thinking and this prevents them from seeing the whole message of the Bible. To do this takes a lot of personal effort and drive. To seek the truth and have faith in something is probably the most difficult journey in the world and I say this because I am NOT one of those individuals. Many people simply just want to live their lives the way they want to and don't want to admitt that they are just being plain lazy. If one wants to critique something fairly, that means that they have to try to look at the problem from as many perspectives as possible. Unfortunately, many people see things the way they want to. To be fair and objective takes diligence and patience. Many, not all, of these rude people are merely lazy intellectuals who are not satisfied with their lives and want to blame all the woes of the world on religious people because they see them as lemmings and they can feel self-satisfied that they are better and more enlightened. There is no doubt that many of these non-Christians are very intellegent people. However, with intellegence often comes pride, the greatest downfall of men. Don't pay attention to them. At this time, I can not call myself a Christian, but I will say to you that you are not silly and these people are just as fallible as you or I are. They are just scared, defensive, and lastly selfish. The Christian solution to this would be to forgive them, which is the hardest thing for us to do: to forgive.

Uh...maybe because even if you don't do it, some people DO bash the non believers and sometimes ARE the ones who start it... The fault comes from both sides, the Christians aren't exactly these little victims...both are guilty. Fair enough?
Or did you want to hear that Christians are the poor victims of the nasty non religious people who won't shut up and go back to hiding their own (non) beliefs like they are "supposed" to?

....Ive wondered that same thing. I feel as if many people think we are ignorant followers of some angry, merciless God. But, as Christians we will always face persecution. That is why knowing what/why you believe in Christianity. It will build your character and help you become stronger in Christ. I also think there are many judegmental, ignorant, "Christians" out there that give some of us a bad name. Some of my friends would berate Christianity because of past negative encounters with them. Trust me, as a single mom (never been married) I have faced lots of judgemental attitudes but I just remind myself that that is not what Christianity is about. I dont let it affect my views at all-if anything it makes me pity those people

People don't grow up because it's uncomfortable and scary. By doing so they would have to accept people, who are different as equals with just as many rights as they have. They would have to respect others who don't agree with them without feeling insecure about their own beliefs. They have to have a majority believing, acting, living and thinking the same in order to truly believe. In short, it's about fear, power and controlling other people.

Let the children have their way, it is by their own choice that they are who they are. Set your eye on the prize and let those left see and learn that real believers in God don't resort to childish ways. Wisdom comes from God direct, and the wise never rant and rave. However, I'll be the first to say that even I fall short time to time.

I never knew so many people hated Christians so much until I came on Yahoo answers. If they don't believe in Jesus Christ that's their prerogative but why are they so angry? I never forced my beliefs on anyone.

Atheists lack morals and don't know any better. Some are just kids on here doing this for fun.

For some it is just a mind game, as things eventually have to return to equilibrium and for many they see the 'same mistakes' they see in themselves, in others
