a couple of things could be going on: 1) conjuntivitis which is an eye infection that needs opthalmic ointment to clear up (vet or Foster & Smiths terimycin (same stuff as vet gives many times), 2) a condition call distichia where there are a "microscopic" second set of eyelashes that roll in and constantly irritate the eye, 3) allergies, 4) a condition called kerititis sicca which means "dry eye" where the eyes do not produce enough tears which also needs special meds (vet), 5) distemper (worst case scenerio if dog is a puppy and/or hasn't been vaccinated, or 6) uveitis which is an inflammatory condition caused by a multitude of things. 1-4 are the most common

Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca commonly known as DRY EYE can be a cause. It is a very common cause. The Vet would have to determine rather or not this is the cause, "or what is" but could be a cold too. Most unlikely at this time of the year however.
Could be caused by Eye Entropion "the lid turns in, and the lashes poke into the eye".
Or a number of things.
Have your Vet check to make sure, so that you treat it properly.
Good luck, keep us informed.

she probably has allergies to something.... She may need to go to the vet and be checked. Do Not use human eye drops on your dog...... Wipe it's eyes off with luke warm epsom salt water..... this will keep some bacteria from surrounding it's eyes and may kkep the mass down...... do this several times a day and see if it helps... if not helping in a matter of 2 or 3 days i recommend taking it to the vt for sure. It may be an infection.... Best of Luck

There are many things that can cause discharge from the eyes, my cat has conjunctivitis i get a medication from the vet for it. There are other things like some breeds of dogs their eyelashes don't go the right direction and it scratches the eyes. I think you really need to go to the vet to get a real diagnosis and medication.

You mean eye boogers? Some dogs just get them. Mine always has a couple little ones. Check with your vet.
