Tell me if you live/lived with Mom, Dad, or both, or anyone else. Are your parents still married, and how old are you?

I myself am 17, and live with my Mom. My Dad was abusive, we left when I was 2.

My parents have been married 50 years, I'm old enough to know better. and I've been married 24 years. I have seen so many marriages break up over the years and just don't think there is any real committment there.

I think people began to get fragmented by our fast moving society years ago. Here today, gone tomorrow. Almost changing mates like fashions. We also live in a sexually permissive time.

In your case, you know your mom couldn't stay in an abusive relationship, or raise you in one. It's hard to grow up without a parent and I hope if you learn anything from it, it's to choose your mate carefully, and please, don't involve yourself with an abuser like your dad. Wait for the right guy and when you get him, remember you're just as valuable as he is. You deserve his respect as well as his love. I wish you well, annieBee

I am 49 and have moved back in with my parents to take care of them. They have been married for 55 years this last July 14. And dad is 83 and mom is 72. They are still very happily married.

I am 22, my parent are married for about 24 years & are still together. That's because of great love and understanding for each other.

I think you are little dis-heartned about the fact that your parent aren't together that's why u asked the question here in the first place?

I don't know about your parent but you make sure that you keep in touch with your dad too. This will make you feel better.

It is said that you should love a person when he deserves it the least.

That's is the succesful formula for marriage, I think, i have learnt from my parent.

Best of luck for ur future.

My dad passed away about four years ago, but my mom and dad were married for 55 years. Amazing! I'd have to live to be 94 to accomplish that, if I got married in the next six months.

My parents divorced when I was 18, but it was an unhappy home for a VERY long time. I'm glad they divorced and moved on with their life. Mom is very happy. Dad has a girlfriend, but lives very remorseful that he missed out on so much of us kids lives because he was out shooting pool, having a drink, or fooling around. Mom's been very gracious about forgiving him, and they're cordial. I'm much happier as an adult--and our family is much closer now!

My Mom and Dad are still together. They're now in their 25th year of marriage. I'm 18. They do have misunderstanding sometimes but they always patch things up.
