Break off a tiny piece (about the size of a small pea) and roll it between your fingers for a few seconds to form a ball. Make sure the area is as dry as can be before trying to stick it on, then gently press it onto the area and tamp down the edges a bit. It might not feel very secure but if you leave it, your mouth usually takes care of the rest.

Ask your ortho or go to the pharmacy and look for silicone. I find it's WAY better than the wax. Less messy, stays put, doesn't wear away.... I love it! You apply it in the exact same way but it looks like hard clear gel. It comes in little containers like the wax.

I used to have braces so I'll tell you how to apply the wax. You take off a strip, and you kind of just smear it across your brackets, and the wax just forms into where you applied it, and it blocks your braces from damaging your mouth. Except you have to take out the wax whenever you eat or drink or else you'll swallow it! And just ask your orthodontist about these kind of questions also. And make sure you read the labels right on the package before you use it. That's my advice.

You get one of the sticks out of the package the dentist gave you pinch some off them rub it on. Make sure it will stay. An alternative that i use for wax is I chew sugar free gum and put it there and re-chew it ever few minutes. Hope this helps.

I'm a Orthodontist myself. I usually give relief wax to my patients which is of very good quality and it sticks on well on the tooth surface.
