Well, to my mind the latest controversy is that Bush seems to be wobbling on enforcement. He's all about guest workers etc., I think it'd be more illuminating if they did a big national expose on just how many people are really in the US illegally, and work it from there. If he/they were trying to sponsor a national incentive type-thing 'step out of the shadows' etc., and inject a little 'love' into the whole immigraiton enforcement concept, it might go smoother, and it'd REALLY help if Mexico decided to stand up and start buying their citizens bus/plane tickets to get home sooner/faster. It'd be REALLY REALLY nice if the country of Mexico would stand up as a body and say 'muy apologetico' for violating our laws, and start encouraging their people to move home. But, some of our liberals won't go quietly on this one, they're all one-world etc., and they don't 'get' that it's the United States that's propped up so many of these failed countries, it's the United States that's spent all this money and effort trying to save people from themselves, and it's the United States that's going to lose when it all just gets thrown back in our faces.

Yes, as Princess says, I heard that 1,000 per month were being deported, but then I also heard that 2,000 per month were still coming in! At those rates, we aren't getting ahead, are we?
However, as sealrborders says, cities and states are waking up and taking things into their own hands to do the job the Federal government is dragging its feet on. There are stories every day of this happening where cities and states are enacting their own laws to make it a crime to hire illegals and rent to illegals, telling police to ask for legal residency documents when they do traffic offense stops or respond to other calls, telling hospitals and welfare offices to demand proof of legal residency, and in some cities schools are asking for proof of legal residency. There have recently been reports in the news of illegals in different states and cities being afraid to leave their homes other than to go to their jobs, for fear of being picked up by ICE. Keep 'em scared, I say! If things become uncomfortable enough, they will start leaving on their own. They have no right to feel comfortable and secure while living here illegally and draining our economy!
So, I feel that things are looking up! It's like a snowball that grows bigger and gains momentum as it rolls down the hill!

I saw on Lou Dobbs that ICE had been deporting an average of 1,000 illegals back to Mexico per month for the past three months. I know that isn't much but I'm glad to see SOMETHING was done for a change.

The Senate passed a Bill giving money to build a fence. Like it will ever actually happen BUT, they did appropriate the funds.

... Who Knows. Bush is happy because all atteniton focussed on middle east right now. No one is questioning his immigration policy.. of which there isn't one.. and no one is questioning his Iraq policy of which he has bungled...
.... So it seems .. no news is NOT good news! Sorry!
