Washing your hair that much freaks out your scalp and makes it produce more oil. Start on a weekend (so you don't have to go out) and don't wash it all weekend. Then only wash it once a day until the next weekend, don't wash it at all again on the weekend then only wash it every other day after that. Also when you do shampoo use the pads of your fingers to really wash your scalp (not your fingernails).
Also, if your using shampoo from Target, the grocery store, the drug store, etc, stop using it! Those shampoos have inferior ingredients and they contain waxes which is why they're cheaper. It costs less money to put wax and cleansers in a bottle and call it shampoo than to make a pure, quality brand shampoo. Go to an upscale salon and by the most expensive shampoo you can afford. Get a shampoo that is a daily shampoo, you don't need a moisturizing shampoo. You could also try a salon shampoo that is made for problem scalps. Ask a hairstylist (not receptionist) there to help you. Good luck! I used to have the same problem but after my hairdresser had me do all of the above I am now an every other day shampooer!!!!
The dry shampoos that are available at salons work really well too. Bumble and Bumble makes an awesome one.

Wash your hair in the morning using shampoo made for oily hair, don't use to much cream rinse since your hair may appear oilier. Towards the end of the day if you need to go some where and it's oily sprinkle talc or a body powder in it, it will absorb some of the oil and comb it throiugh so you don't see any of it. Also at night try to brush your hair to work the oil through it and it should come out better in the morning.

There are a couple recipies for oily hair in Janice Cox's book _Natural Beauty At Home_ .
First "Watercress Rinse for Oily Hair"
Bend together 1 cup watercress(can be found in produce section of many grocery stores) and 1 cup water. Strain off any solids and pour the rinse on damp, clean hair and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse well with cool water.
Or, try a "Conditioning Hair Pack"
Combine 1/4 cup(more or less to length) of one of the following:mayonnaise, egg, olive oil, plain yogurt. And 1-2 teaspoons of lemon juice. Apply mixture to clean, damp hair. Use a shower cap to hold in heat. Wait 15 minutes and rinse thoroughly with cool water.
I haven't tried them but, the other recipies I have tried have been very nice. Check out her book for other great recipies or even her website @ http://www.janicecox.com/

Wash your hair with shampoo for oily hair before you go out into the world every day. Comb it less often, because if you comb it too much, you distribute the oil through your hair that much quicker than it will do it on its own.

i think they make shampoos for oily hair.. and also.. washing it more often makes your scalp produce more oil.. so you should probably wash it less (but use the shampoo). Also, i read that you can put some type of powder in your hair and blowdry it, to hide greasy roots..
