What is the difference between
"te amo" and "te quiero"
do they both mean I love you??

In english it would be the same, but in Spanish that represents different nuances of the same expression

"Te amo" means something like "I love you a lot", often used for parents to their children or a couple that's been dating for quite some time. "Te quiero" is the kind of love that you can feel for a friend, a relative, a pet, etc. "Te amo" is very strong, and "te quiero" can be said more lightly.

Te amo is much stronger a term than te quiero. Technically, "te amo" means "I love you" and "te quiero" means "I want you", but "te quiero" is much more widely used.

Te quiero is i want you.
When u say i love you (te amo) , you are expressing a more deep feeling.

Te amo- you love somebody, like lovers
Te quiero- you love your son, father, mother, dog....

te amo = i love you (like b/f and g/f)
and
te quiero = i love you ( like as a friend, brother, etc..)

"Te amo" is the cinema or tacky version of "Te quiero". And both mean "I love you". None of them means "I want you" as in "I desire you sexually". That would be said "Te deseo".
