Good. Kids have too many distractions. They don't need to be competing for who wears the skimpiest clothes. They should be focused, disciplined and serious about their education. It isn't a daycare or a place to play.
Schools in most parts of the world have uniforms.

I don't think there should be a uniform policy for k-12. It doesn't reduce bullying like they say, especially because one end of the spectrum you've got a kid in a white dress shirt and navy blue slacks and on the other end you've got a kid in a white t-shirt and navy blue jogging pants. It doesn't hide a family's financial standing, so kids are still picked on. They also say kids in uniforms are better behaved and after working a year in an elementary school that requires uniforms, I learned that just isn't true. They're' the same kids, only in uniform. Uniforms are pointless. They don't change the ways kids act and they only hamper the child's creativity.

It's a great idea for a number of reasons.
Kids take less time to get ready in the morning (they don't have to decide what to wear!)
Parents save money on buying loads of expensive clothes (kids will already have school clothes picked out)
Children are able to focus more on school and not on what everyone else is wearing. Kids will always be distracted by something at school, but uniforms (or "dress codes") eliminate one more distraction. In some instances, uniforms have reduced some cases of bullying and violence because of children not wearing the right brand of shoes or clothes.
I wore uniforms for a few years in grade school and for all 4 years of high school. I didn't like it at first, especially in high school, but I quickly learned to appreciate the benefits of uniforms.

I think its a great idea to consider uniforms for K-12. This would bring students of all strata of the society at par. Students do not get the opportunity to show off the financial status of their families by wearing the designer clothes etc..

I don't like it. I went to a school that had a strict dress code. All that it does is make you spend more money on clothes. Not only do you have to buy school clothes you also have to buy regular clothes as well. I am in the military and I have to wear a uniform everyday, so I am used to it. I am in class now and I can definitely tell that you are more comfortable in normal clothes and are able to study and do school work easier if you comfortable in your own clothes.

I wore uniforms in middle school and absolutely hated it. (The uniforms consisted of polo shirts and khaki pants.) The worst part was tucking my shirt in. Blah! I had no way to express myself. But I found a loophole. I could wear whatever socks I wanted! Bright colors, zany designs; it was great! The teachers loved it.

Id rather have uniforms then my dress code i had this year...i went to a private school and you could only wear collared shirts,1 earing in each ear, no cut off jeans and your shorts had 2 b bermuda shorts, you had 2 wear socks, boys could not have their heair touch their eyebrows or ears, and you could not wear anything that said a brand...such as aeropostale, hollister, etc. so it depends...if the dress code is as rediculous as that then id rather have a uniform.

I loved wearing them. Never had to worry about what to put on in the morning. No ironing needed ever. I wish we all still wore uniforms actually.

As a mother I really prefer the idea. I had to wear them also, and althoughI hated them at the time...I think it prevents that "need" to wear only the most expensive, name brands. Such a waste of money while kids are still growing and styles change so often.

It's a good idea, as long as they aren't too expensive or too dorky looking. Let the kids wear what they want in their off-time, though.
