That is an annoyance. I don't mind if they ask "how do you like the book?" But I do NOT want to have to describe what the book is about. Usually, I hand them the book and let them read the cover. What's even worse, is when people SEE that you are reading, yet continue to talk to you. Sometimes, I maybe reading something of a personal nature, and that's what it is -- personal. Maybe it's self-help or maybe it's Hitler's Mein Kamp.. To me, what I read is personal, and I don't feel that I want to discuss it or argue it...I'm just studying and learning. I'm not reading something so that I can be judged my nosey people.

I'm convinced that they want to have something to talk about later so people will think they are intelligent. They ask what you're reading about and what it's about so they can share that knowledge with others. They will say "Have you read 'Domain' by Steve Alten" and their friends respond by saying "No!" They then get to fill them in on the really awesome storyline of the book that they learned from the real reader. I don't know if this makes people feel better about themselves or not.
BTW- I find this to be annoying as well. Especially since I'm a history major and read a lot of history books (Steve Alten is NOT history though...). As soon as they find out what I'm reading, they get bored. LOL. Next time tell someone you are reading about the War of 1812 and I'm sure they will leave you alone!

So what. Waste a few second of your precious life and make smalltalk with a stranger. On one hand people nowadays complain that everybody is rude, selfish, et al, on the other hand they dislike being talked to.
How about when people ask you "How are you ?" ? Find that disturbing as well ? I know a guy who yells at people when they say "Have a nice day" - he responds "Don't you dare tell me what to do".
So, no, it doesn't annoy US ALL. I have 2 degrees in literature and read a LOT. I'm always happy to discuss whatever I'm reading with strangers or friends.

it extremely is a significant sin that folk actual have faith what religions tell them approximately sin. The Bible is in basic terms a decision of information that have been accrued up, from between thoughts circulated via early non secular communities. many of the thoughts have been positioned into the Bible, and a few weren't. It grow to be as much as persons that positioned the Bible jointly to opt for which thoughts to maintain and which to ignore approximately. many of the solutions which you fairly choose would have been in the thoughts that the censors ignored. "Sin" is basically an define for a mistake which you think of you made. In yet another church or subculture, it ought to no longer be considered a sin. In different words, it extremely isn't any longer God yet people who invented "sin", so they'd beat themselves to dying with self-be apologetic approximately, or get a superb severe from finding down on their "inferior" pals. while asking Christians for an opinion, submit to in ideas that maximum get so emotional, they can't even evaluate the possibility that they'd nicely be incorrect.

Whether it's annoying is going to depend on your level of personal space. I can be like that sometimes, too...but then again, I get annoyed if people get close to the back of me in a line (if I can smell you or hear you breathing, BACK UP OFF ME...you're too close!), or people who see that I'm doing something (like reading) and insist on carrying on a conversation. Like...um...I'm reading here, if I wanted to talk, I'd close my book!!
So, I see what you mean, but some people would just die if they weren't talking every minute of every day every chance they got, so they start up conversations with you and don't stop to consider your feelings.

Maybe they are interested in the title, or they have heard/seen it somewhere, or know a little bit about it, and want to discuss it with you, since you obviously are familiar with that specific book as well. Also, they might want to make small talk with you because of a more personal reason-might think your cute, or maybe you look familiar and they don't want to be blunt about it. Don't get so bitter about, I mean what if tomorrow your the one in their shoes? since you like to read a lot, maybe a person you pass by, has a book you are really infatuated with, and if so, I hope they are nice and kind, and take the time to talk to you, so you'll see it's not that bad and hopefully it makes you feel like shiit. Your pathetic. At least they aren't giving you some type of bigot look or comment, or swearing at you, now that would be a reason to biitch-get over yourself.

You should be happy that someone is actually taking an interest in what book ur reading... Especially with the High School dropout rate being so high these days... Its a wonder that most ppl care at all! I read all the time and when there's someone else that takes an interest in the book that I am reading I am more than happy to share my thoughts on my book. Especially if its "One Hell of a Good Book"! "READ MORE, TALK MORE, AND DISCOVER MORE ABOUT YOURSELF AS WELL AS OTHERS WHEN DISCUSSING A GOOD BOOK... WHY BE ANNOYED ABOUT IT WHEN THAT SAME BOOK BROUGHT YOU THE SAME PLEASURE THAT SOMEONE ELSE IS LOOKING FOR BY ASKING U QUESTIONS"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yes, it is annoying, but considering the other alternative is 'how are you?' well, i'll take the ' what book are you reading?' any day!
people don't really care that much, they just think they are being friendly...i usually take it as a compliment...that there is something about me that they find interesting enough to try to converse

Usually it's a way for people to make small talk and get to know you. It's not the book they are interested in. It's you, babe.
